The International Conference on Calorimetry in Particle Physics is the major forum for the state-of-the-art developments of calorimetry technologies. The Tenth Conference was attended by more than 150 physicists from 16 countries and covered all aspects of calorimetric particle detection and measurements, with emphasis on high energy physics and astrophysics experiments. The proceedings contain three parts: introductory papers, contributed papers and perspective papers. The introduction starts with a historical review of calorimetry developments, and continues with overviews of the current sta

This volume contains more than 80 papers by theorists and experimentalists in the field of multiparticle production. A large variety of domains in high-energy physics are covered. For each of these domains, an overview is given before the results are presented.

This volume provides timely coverage of nonaccelerator astroparticle physics. It complements two volumes prepared for earlier schools. Informative and pedagogical, it can serve as the basis for a modern course on the subject. The first section discusses the fundamentals of particle physics, with reviews of the standard model and beyond. The section on neutrinos and neutrino oscillations covers topics including neutrino oscillations, short and long baseline neutrino beams from accelerators, atmospheric and solar neutrinos, neutrinos from gravitational stellar collapses and neutrino telescopes. Quarks, Leptons and the Big Bang, Second Edition is a clear, readable, and self-contained introduction to particle physics and related areas of cosmology. It bridges the gap between non-technical popular accounts and textbooks for advanced students. The author concentrates on presenting the subject from the modern perspective of quarks, leptons, and the forces between them. This approach enables readers to grasp the essential concepts more easily than the traditional approach involving the complex interactions of hadrons. It then proceeds to apply these ideas to the modern theory of cosmology. Necessary background material on relativity and quantum mechanics is included but advanced mathematics is avoided.

In August/September 2001, a group of 75 physicists from 51 laboratories in 15 countries met in Erice, Italy to participate in the 39th Course of the International School of Subnuclear Physics. This volume constitutes the proceedings of that meeting. It focuses on the theoretical and phenomenological developments in string theory, as well as in all the other sectors of subnuclear physics. In addition, experimental highlights are presented and discussed.
Contents:
String models --- Gauge fields (Physics) --- Particles (Nuclear physics)
