Since its original version was created, Chunhyangjeon, or the Tale of Chunhyang, has been re-created in various art forms for 360 years. To this day, the identity of the writer of Chunhyangjeon has remained unknown. To solve this mystery, the author examined references and analyzed common events and background found in different versions. Based on this, the author concluded Jo Gyeongnam(1570~1641) was the original writer of Chunhyangjeon. Of woodblock-printed editions of Chunhyangjeon, the most representative text of the highest refinement is the Wanpan 84 Jangbon.
