Founded in 1921 by Charles Gide and Bernard Lavergne, Recma is today one of the oldest peer-reviewed journals dedicated to works on cooperation and the social economy. Four times a year, Recma publishes new studies and research in history, sociology, geography, economics, law, management, philosophy..., focusing on the social economy (cooperatives, mutuals, nonprofits, and their foundations), in France, Europe, and other parts of the world. The main criteria for publication are the article’s scientific quality, originality, novelty of perspective on the social economy, and its contribution to the debate between the sector’s researchers and practitioners. Articles are subjected to anonymous peer review but should be accessible to a non-specialist audience (acronyms spelled out, relevant background information provided, etc.). After an initial reading by the Editors, articles are sent simultaneously and anonymously to at least two referees, one of whom is not a member of the Editorial Board. Publication depends on their decision and any required revisions. Recma is published quarterly (January, May, August, and October). Count at least three months between submitting an article and publication. However, the process can take a year or more depending on the editorial schedule and the email exchanges between the referees and the author. The author is kept informed regularly.
