La formation est un des enjeux majeurs des sociétés européennes. Au-delà de ce constat, les diagnostics sont contradictoires et ne se préoccupent pas de situer l’éducation dans la diversité de ses dimensions et la complexité de ses relations avec la société. Elle est reconnue comme un facteur essentiel de l’efficacité économique et comme une protection face au risque de chômage. Mais on lui demande aussi d’être un lieu d’intégration sociale et le champ d’expériences nouvelles du secteur public, tout en conservant les objectifs d’excellence et de transmission des savoirs. Ces exigences sont immenses, difficiles et peut-être impossibles à satisfaire toutes, d’autant que se pose la question des ressources, de leur nature et de leur montant. Face au défi de cette multiplicité de demandes, il s’avère nécessaire d’accroître notre connaissance et nos évaluations, tant l’analyse prospective du secteur éducatif est devenue un impératif. Cet ouvrage a pour objectif de lancer des passerelles entre la recherche, comme aide à la décision, et les politiques éducatives, en rassemblant des auteurs d’approches disciplinaires variées, des chercheurs, des administrateurs et des praticiens de l’éducation.
