The immediacy of Anish Kapoor's sculpture is often said to evoke the sublime. His signature use of vibrant color and organic forms combine to dominate, astonish, and redefine the relationship between object and viewer, sculpture and space. In the new body of work presented here, Kapoor introduces a previously unexplored range of materials and surfaces, furthering his already complex dialogue between form and void, the corporeal and the infinite. Using mirror-like polished steel, or white surfaces so intensely pure that they virtually defy the gaze, the artist has created works that are visceral, yet also evoke a rich array of philosophical underpinnings and resonances.
