Electronic communication using computer networks has experienced tremendous growth during the past few years. A workshop on internet applications was held at the European Forest Institute in August 1995 to overview the ways in which the global forest and environment community is using computer networking to address new problems, and to widen their reach of electronic communication around the world. These proceedings comprise some of the presentations given at this workshop.
