Practical instrumentation methods are presented for measuring the ac characteristics of large, extended or interconnected grounding systems. Measurements of impedance to remote earth, step and touch potentials, and current distributions are covered for grounding systems ranging in complexity from small grids (less than 900m 2), with only a few connected overhead or direct burial bare concentric (2) neutrals, to large grids (greater than 20 000m 2), with many connected neutrals, overhead ground wires (sky wires), counterpoises, grid tie conductors, cable shields, and metallic pipes. This standard addresses measurement safety; earth-return mutual errors; low-current measurements; power-system staged faults; communication and control cable transfer impedance; current distribution (current splits) in the grounding system; step, touch, mesh, and profile measurements; the foot-equivalent electrode earth resistance; and instrumentation characteristics and limitations.

Superseded by IEEE Std 142-2007 (Green Book). This IEEE Standars product is part of the Color Books family. The problems of system grounding, that is, connection to ground of neutral, of the corner of the delta, or of the midtap of one phase, are covered.

Electrical, dimensional, and mechanical characteristics and certain safety features of single-phase, 60 Hz, mineral-oil-immersed, self-cooled, distribution transformers with separable insulated high-voltage connectors are covered. Ratings, testing, and construction are discussed. These transformers are generally used for step-down pruposes from an underground primary cable supply and are suitable for occasional submerged operation. The intent is to provide a basis for determining their performance, interchangeability, and safety, and for their selection. This standard does not cover the electrical and mechanical requirements of accessory devices that may be supplied with the transformer.

This volume, synthesizing over 20 years of feminist thinking, presents critiques of mainstream psychological theories and lays the groundwork for the development of a context-based, feminist psychological theory. Part I of the volume examines the limitations that underlie traditional views of human nature as well as the consequences of not taking into account the effects of contextual and structural forces upon human development. The initial chapters utilize feminist analyses of gender, context, and structure to assess the adequacy of the metaphysic in traditional personality theories' assumptions. Following chapters examine the impact and limits of empiricism as the dominant model of knowledge generation within cognitive-behavioural theories; identify Jung's biases, which are integral to his use of rationalism as an epistemic method; and demonstrate the class and culture biases implicit in personality theories. In essence, the limits and dangers of single-use epistemological approaches are illuminated, and fundamental considerations - "What is reality and by whom is it defined?" - are posed. Part II focuses on traditional views of psychopathology, and provides feminist critiques of its models and conceptualizations. These chapters address current mainstream models of several large categories of psychopathology - depression, schizophrenia, agoraphobia, personality disorders, and trauma - and present feminist revisions for differently understanding these sets of observed behaviours.
