This book is a mosaic. It doesn't unfold in the strictly linear fashion of most math instruction. You'll find each idea relating to several others, and you'll see new concepts suddenly connecting to much earlier ones. Seemingly unrelated pieces will begin to fit together more as the student's repertory of experiences and discoveries broadens. Later in the tour, the mosaic emerges with rich synergy, giving new power and insight to earlier adventures. Generally speaking the students should encounter the activities in order, but some reorganization is possible. Unit I and the beginning of unit III introduce the pivotal concepts of the book. These are the Fibonacci Numbers and the Golden Ratio. Once these are grasped, it's possible to shop among the units for material that relates to student interest and to your curriculum.
