Ce mémoire s'intègre à la conception d'une installation de coulée continue à Cockerill-Sambre, nécessitant l'intégration des aspects ergonomiques. Il contient une comparaison sur le terrain de l'activité de 3 opérateurs dans différentes entreprises et une étude des phases de discussions, négociations et décisions au sein de l'entreprise. L'évolution technique semble avoir permis une autonomisation des choix organisationnels; ce qui explique les différences observées d'une entreprise à l'autre. La complexité et l'autonomisation des installations exigeant la référence au concept socio-technique parait etre la cause des difficultés de l'entreprise à définir la tache qu'elle attend des opérateurs.
