Abstract

This is a book about self-concept. It is directed to that very private picture each of us has which reflects who we think we are, what we feel we can do, and how best we think we can do it... This is a book about how the self grows, changes, and expresses itself in behavior... The underlying philosophy resides on a simple assumption, namely, the better we know ourselves the more able we will be to forget ourselves, for it is usually those things we do not know about ourselves, in terms of personal dynamics, thaht bog us down from time to time. I do not mean to suggest thaht this is in any sense a "self-help" or "self-analysis" type of book. I do hope, however, that it might be helpful in facilitating a bit more "self-awareness".
