"The laparoscopic approach to surgery has revolutionized modern healthcare. With advances in training and accessibility, the worldwide impact of this minimally invasive surgical modality continues to grow exponentially. High quality data continue to show advantages of laparoscopic surgery compared to open surgery in a variety of surgical fields, including lower rates of comorbidity, lower healthcare costs related to length of hospitalization, and expedited patient recovery. (Jaschinski T 2018, Hajibandeh S 2017, Bonjer HJ 2017)"--

Urinary Tract Stone Disease covers the entire subject of urinary stone disease from basic sciences to medical and surgical treatment of stones. The surgical management of urinary stone disease has advanced significantly since the introduction of shock wave lithotripsy (SWL), percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), ureteroscopy (URS), and more recently retrograde intra-renal surgery (RIRS) with small, flexible fibre-optic ureteroscopes. As a result, cutting for stones has become a rare procedure. These minimally invasive techniques are now also used in the paediatric population with great safety and success. This book consists of 60 chapters divided into 9 sections. The first 3 sections are devoted to basic sciences on subjects ranging from epidemiology of urinary calculi, to shock wave physics. The fourth section deals with diagnostic, laboratory, and research methods in the diagnosis and investigation of stones. Stone disease in children is dealt with in chapter 5, followed by 3 sections on surgical management of stones. Finally, there is an entire section on medical management of stones. With highly illustrated diagrams, photographs, and X-ray images throughout, this book is an excellent reference for urologists, nephrologists and non-medical scientists.

The Atlas of Robotic Urologic Surgery provides a detailed, step-by-step guide to common robotic urologic procedures for the purpose of helping novice surgeons in their transition to robotic surgery and seasoned robotic surgeons to refine their surgical technique and expand their repertoire of robotic procedures. In addition, less commonly performed robotic procedures such as those for male infertility, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary tract reconstruction and pediatrics are included. Each chapter is written by the thought leaders in robotic urologic surgery with descriptive step-by-step text, complimented by figures and intraoperative photographs detailing the nuances of each procedure. Emphasis is placed on operative setup, instrument and equipment needs and surgical techniques for both the primary surgeon as well as the operative assistant. The use of ancillary equipment and robotic instrument and endoscope exchanges are highlighted throughout the procedural text by tables designed to aid surgeons and their teams in improving efficiency. This volume will provide unique insights into robotic urologic surgery and reduce the learning curve of accomplishing these increasingly popular procedures.

?The authors seek to provide an exhaustive review of all aspects of robotic surgery. ? intended for all urologic surgeons, regardless of their experience with robotic surgery. Additionally, allied healthcare professionals, in particular operating room nurses, surgical technicians, and physician assistants, will find it useful. Hospital administrators who are contemplating purchasing a robotic surgical system also will be able to use this as a reference. ? a well-written book with excellent quality illustrations. It is the most comprehensive to date of urologic robotic surgery.? (Costas D. Lallas, Doody?s Review Service, September, 2011)
