"Learn by doing with this user-friendly introduction to time series data analysis in R. This book explores the intricacies of managing and cleaning time series data of different sizes, scales and granularity, data preparation for analysis and visualization, and different approaches to classical and machine learning time series modeling and forecasting. A range of pedagogical features support students, including end-of-chapter exercises, problems, quizzes and case studies. The case studies are designed to stretch the learner, introducing larger data sets, enhanced data management skills, and R packages and functions appropriate for real-world data analysis. On top of providing commented R programs and data sets, the book's companion website offers extra case studies, lecture slides, videos and exercise solutions. Accessible to those with a basic background in statistics and probability, this is an ideal hands-on text for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers in data-rich disciplines "

Assuming no knowledge of programming, this book presents both programming concepts and MATLAB's built-in functions, providing a perfect platform for exploiting MATLAB's extensive capabilities for tackling engineering problems. It starts with programming concepts such as variables, assignments, input/output, and selection statements, moves onto loops and then solves problems using both the 'programming concept' and the 'power of MATLAB' side-by-side. In-depth coverage is given to input/output, a topic that is fundamental to many engineering applications. Ancillaries available with th

Lego robots! Mindstorms are sweeping the world and fans need to learn how to programme them Lego Mindstorms are a new generation of Lego Robots that can be manipulated using microcomputers, light and touch sensors, an infrared transmitter and CD-ROMs. Since Lego launched Lego Mindstorms in late 1998 sales have skyrocketed - with no sign of slowing down. Mindstorms have captured the imagination of adults and children alike, creating a subculture of Mindstorm enthusiasts around the world. The kits are now a staple part of engineering and computer science classes at many high profile Universi

The series of MFCS symposia, organized in rotation by Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic since 1972, has a long and well-established tradition. The symposiaencouragehigh-qualityresearchinallbranchesoftheoreticalcomputer science.Their broadscopeprovidesanopportunityto bring together researchers whodonotusuallymeetatspecialized conferences. The 35th International Symposium on Mathematical Foundations of C- puter Science (MFCS 2010) was organized in parallel with the 19th EACSL Annual Conference on Computer Science Logic (CSL 2010). The federated MFCS and CSL 2010 conference had shared plenary sessions and social events forallparticipants, butthescienti?cprogramandtheproceedingswereprepared independently for both events. Out of 149 regular submissions to MFCS 2010, the Program Committee - lected 56 papers for presentation at the conference and publication in this v- ume. Each paper was reviewed by at least three Program Committee members with the help of outside experts, and the actual selection was based on a sub- quent electronic discussion. In addition to the contributed papers, the scienti?c program of MFCS 2010 included ?ve MFCS and CSL plenary talks delivered by David Basin (ETH Z¨ urich),HerbertEdelsbrunner (IST Austria andDuke University),ErichGrad ¨ el (RWTH Aachen), Bojan Mohar (University of Ljubljana and Simon Fraser U- versity),andJosephSifakis (CNRS), andthree invitedMFCS lecturesby Andris Ambainis (University of Latvia), Juraj Hromkovi?c(ETHZur ¨ ich), and Daniel Lokshtanov (Universitetet i Bergen). We are grateful to the invited speakers for accepting our invitation and sharing their knowledge and skills with all MFCS 2010 participants.
