Founded in 1951 by Giovanni Pugliese Carratelli, Studi Classici e Orientali (Classical and Oriental Studies) was born as the journal of the Institute of Ancient History at Pisa University. Soon after, it became the reference publication for the Institutes of Archaeology, Classical Philology, and European Linguistics. The journal is characterized by its multifold interests and by its aperture to the study of numerous aspects related to the ancient world, in both Graeco-Roman and Oriental spheres. Contributions concern philology, literature, linguistics, archaeology, political, social, economic and religious history, history of law, cultural history, history of Science, and other branches of historical research.
