Le Dialogue intercongolais, initié par l'accord de cessez-le-feu de Lusaka signé en 1999, est le processus de négociation destiné à mettre fin aux conflits en République démocratique du Congo, à la partition du pays en plusieurs régions autogérées en lutte contre le pouvoir de Kinshasa et enfin aux violences et à la paupérisation congolaise. Au terme d'un parcours de près de quatre années qui connut nombre de ruptures, de reprises, de sursauts, le Dialogue s'est terminé par l'adoption des textes fondamentaux dessinant l'architecture institutionnelle de la transition. A échéance de deux ou trois ans, celle-ci doit mener à l'organisation d'élections libres et démocratiques, aube de l'instauration d'un Etat de droit. Le présent ouvrage passe en revue les étapes de ce cheminement mouvementé, en rappelle les fondements historiques, le situe dans son environnement régional et international, évoque le profil et le rôle de quelques-uns de ses principaux acteurs, analyse la teneur des documents auxquels il a abouti. L'apport de ce cas de figure particulier aux principales théories de la négociation est abordé en conclusion.
