ANEMONA is a multi-agent system (MAS) methodology for holonic manufacturing system (HMS) analysis and design, based on HMS requirements. ANEMONA defines a mixed top-down and bottom-up development process, and provides HMS-specific guidelines to help the designer in identifying and implementing holons. In ANEMONA, the specified HMS is divided into concrete aspects that form different "views" of the system. The development process of ANEMONA provides clear and HMS-specific modeling guidelines for HMS designers, and complete development phases for the HMS life cycle. The analysis phase is defined in two stages: System Requirements Analysis, and Holon Identification and Specification. This analysis provides high-level HMS specifications from the requirements, adopting a top-down recursive approach. An advantage of this recursive analysis is that its results, i.e. the analysis models, provide a set of elementary elements and assembling rules. The next stage is Holon Design, a bottom-up process to produce the system architecture from the analysis models of the previous stage. The Holons Implementation stage produces an Executable Code for the SetUp and Configuration stage. Finally, maintenances functions are executed in the Operation and Maintenance stage. ANEMONA: A Multi-agent Methodology for Holonic Manufacturing Systems will be of interest to researchers and postgraduate students involved in artificial intelligence and software engineering, as well as to manufacturing engineers in industry and academia.

Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1998,the international Intelligent Data Engineering and Automated Learning (IDEAL) conference has become a r- erence for researchers in both theoretical and practical aspects of learning and information processing, data mining, retrieval and management, bioinformatics and bio-inspired models, agents and hybrid systems and ?nancial engineering. The purpose of IDEAL conferences has been to provide a broad and interd- ciplinary forum for scientists, researchers, and practitioners in these areas from around the world. A special feature of IDEAL conferences is cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas in emerging topics and application in these areas. Data ana- sis and engineering and associated learning paradigms are playing increasingly important roles in an increasing number of applications and ?elds. The mul- disciplinary nature of contemporary research is pushing the boundaries and one of the principal aims of the IDEAL conferences is to promote interactions and collaborations across disciplines. This volume of Lecture Notes in Computer Science contains accepted - pers presented at IDEAL 2006 held at the University of Burgos, Spain, during, September 20-23, 2006. The conference received 557 submissions from over 40 countriesaroundtheworld, whichweresubsequentlyrefereedbytheProgramme Committeeandmanyadditionalreviewers.Afterrigorousreview,170top-quality papers were accepted and included in the proceedings. The acceptance rate was only 30%, which ensured an extremely high-quality standard of the conference. The buoyant number of submitted papers is a clear proof of the vitality and increased importance of the ?elds related to IDEAL, and is also an indication of the rising popularity of the IDEAL conferences.

This proceedings book presents selected peer-reviewed papers from the 9th International Workshop on ‘Service Oriented, Holonic and Multi-agent Manufacturing Systems for the Industry of the Future’ organized by Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain, and held on October 3–4, 2019. The SOHOMA 2019 Workshop aimed to foster innovation in the digital transformation of manufacturing and logistics by promoting new concepts and methods and solutions through service orientation in holonic and agent-based control with distributed intelligence. The book provides insights into the theme of the SOHOMA’19 Workshop – ‘Smart anything everywhere – the vertical and horizontal manufacturing integration, ’ addressing ‘Industry of the Future’ (IoF), a term used to describe the 4th industrial revolution initiated by a new generation of adaptive, fully connected, analytical and highly efficient robotized manufacturing systems. This global IoF model describes a new stage of manufacturing, that is fully automatized and uses advanced information, communication and control technologies such as industrial IoT, cyber-physical production systems, cloud manufacturing, resource virtualization, product intelligence, and digital twin, edge and fog computing. It presents the IoF interconnection of distributed manufacturing entities using a ‘system-of-systems’ approach, discussing new types of highly interconnected and self-organizing production resources in the entire value chain; and new types of intelligent decision-making support based on from real-time production data collected from resources, products and machine learning processing. This book is intended for researchers and engineers working in the manufacturing value chain, and specialists developing computer-based control and robotics solutions for the ‘Industry of the Future’. It is also a valuable resource for master’s and Ph.D. students in engineering sciences programs.
