The intent of this book is to provide an overview of current conceptualizations of Pharmacotherapy. The book focuses on three major areas; diagnosis, treatment, and prevention for a wide array of diseases; Cognitive and Psychological disorders (Schizophrenia and Nicotine addiction), Inflammatory disorders (New Chemical anti-inflammatory and Immunotherapy), updated antihypertensive therapy and healing of ulcers with venous origin. A separate chapter is dedicated to the rationality of drug use in earthquake injuries. The last chapter deals with Imaging of potential therapeutic or diagnostic agents in animal models in the early stage of research. We hope this book is useful to a wide range of people, from students first learning about Pharmacotherapy, to advanced clinicians and researchers.

The most significant advances in cancer therapy in recent years have involved the development of systemic therapeutics. With improvements in response rates in solid tumors, opportunities have arisen to enhance the effectiveness of surgery. Administration of systemic therapy prior to surgery - neoadjuvant chemotherapy - represents one approach by which clinicians have successfully reduced the extent of surgery and, in some instances, positively impacted on clinical outcomes. This collection of works by expert clinicians from a variety of disciplines represents an exploration of the current knowledge of the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in diverse tumor types.

Intestinal failure is a challenging, emerging field that has been the subject of much research and debate in recent years and has only recently become widely accepted as a distinct clinical syndrome. This comprehensive book provides an in-depth review of scientific theory and clinical practice relating to intestinal failure with specific emphasis on assessment and management as part of a multidisciplinary team. Compiled by an internationally recognised editorial team, the book provides a practical how-to guide to the management of adult and pediatric patients with intestinal failure, foc

"Drug-Acceptor Interactions: Modeling theoretical tools to test and evaluate experimental equilibrium effects suggests novel theoretical tools to test and evaluate drug interactions seen with combinatorial drug therapy. The book provides an in-depth, yet controversial, exploration of existing tools for analysis of dose-response studies at equilibrium or steady state. The book is recommended reading for post-graduate students and researchers engaged in the study of systems biology, networks, and the pharmacodynamics of natural or industrial drugs, as well as for medical clinicians interested in drug application and combinatorial drug therapy. Even people without mathematical skills will be able to follow the pros and cons of reaction schemes and their related distribution equations. Chapter 9 is a hands-on guide for software to plot, fit and analyze one's own data."--Provided by publisher.

Genetic aberrations and epigenetic modifications are critical drivers of cancer progression and metastasis. Although recurrent mutations in primary and metastatic cancers have been shown to be concordant, there are several metastasis-associated mutations responsible for resistance to specific therapies that are frequently located in genes that regulate DNA methylation and chromatin modifications. Recent studies have shown that distinct subgroups of poor-prognosis tumors lack genetic alterations but are epigenetically regulated, pointing to the critical role of epigenetic modifications in cancer progression. This Special Issue provides novel insights into the mechanisms underlying processes associated with cancer cell plasticity and the development of metastatic disease.
