Current practice involves the use of 3D surgical planning and patient-specific solutions in multiple surgical areas of expertise. Patient-specific solutions have been endorsed for several years in numerous publications due to their associated benefits around accuracy, safety, and predictability of surgical outcome. The basis of 3D surgical planning is the use of high-quality medical images (e.g., CT, MRI, or PET-scans). The translation from 3D digital planning toward surgical applications was developed hand in hand with a rise in 3D printing applications of multiple biocompatible materials. These technical aspects of medical care require engineers' or technical physicians' expertise for optimal safe and effective implementation in daily clinical routines. The aim and scope of this Special Issue is high-tech solutions in personalized surgery, based on 3D technology and, more specifically, bone-related surgery. Full-papers or highly innovative technical notes or (systematic) reviews that relate to innovative personalized surgery are invited. This can include optimization of imaging for 3D VSP, optimization of 3D VSP workflow and its translation toward the surgical procedure, or optimization of personalized implants or devices in relation to bone surgery.

This publication aims to support young doctors and surgery residents during their training period. A surgical residency is a crucial period for a young doctor. A great volume of theoretical information along with difficult and demanding practical skills need to be acquired in a relatively short period of time. This book is a tool for rapid, correct acquisition of elementary surgical notions and techniques, which are the basis for the training of today's surgery resident.

Long description: Kann man den Sprachgebrauch in einer Gruppe verändern? Und wenn ja, wie? In Politik und Wirtschaft sind schlüssige Antworten auf diese Fragen von großem Interesse. Karolina Suchowolec findet sie, indem sie den aktuellen Forschungsstand zu Sprachplanung, Plansprachen, Kontrollierten Sprachen und Terminologiearbeit analysiert, die Erkenntnisse auf ihre mögliche Verallgemeinerung hin prüft und daraus Sprachlenkung als einen übergreifenden linguistischen Forschungsgegenstand ableitet. Dessen praktische Umsetzung hat sie empirisch untersucht. Im Ergebnis formuliert sie eine Übersicht zu den Herausforderungen der Sprachlenkung sowie zu in der Literatur postulierten Lösungsansätzen – eine solide Grundlage für die weitere theoretische Forschung sowie Hilfestellung für die praktische Sprachlenkung. Biographical note: Karolina Suchowolec, *1984, hat in Dresden Angewandte Linguistik und Deutsch als Fremdsprache studiert und in Hildesheim im Fach Sprachwissenschaft promoviert. Als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Deutsche Sprache in Mannheim ist sie an terminologischen und angewandtlinguistischen Projekten beteiligt. Ihre Forschungsinteressen sind u.a. Fachkommunikation, Terminologiemanagement, Kontrollierte Sprachen, Wissensmodellierung.
