Abstract

Automata, virtual reality and ants proposes an analysis of the complexity of the war phenomenon through three types of approaches, in the microphysics of individual action, in simulated reality, in the metaphor with the biological environment. The investigation into the nature of the interactions between man and machine presents an attempt to dominate the Clausewitzian uncertainty of war through the automated, post-human system. This seems to be resolved in the Omega point, which the theologian de Chardin had identified as a point of escape from entropy, and from the disorder of reality. There is no scientific solution or theological fate. Shared intelligence through entry into satellite semantics.

Abstract

Automi, realtà virtuale e formiche ("Automata, virtual reality and ants") proposes an analysis of the complexity of the war phenomenon through three different approaches: in the microphysics of the individual action, in simulated reality and in a metaphor with the biological environment. The investigation into the nature of the interactions between man and machine presents the attempt to dominate the Clausewitzian uncertainty of the battle through an automated, post-human system. This seems to be resolved in the Omega Point, which the theologian de Chardin had identified as a point of escape from entropy and from the disorder of reality. There is neither a scientific solution, nor a theological fate. Intelligence is shared through the semantics of the satellite, of the drone and through the information passing from machine to machine. While the warriors will act as a swarm, by sharing a huge amount of data, each one of them on the exocrine glands of the machine, St. Basil was right when he warned that whoever claims to speak on the nature of things (and therefore on war) should first of be able to speak of the nature of the ant.

Abstract

"Fight for the Final Frontier uses the concepts associated with irregular warfare to offer new insights for understanding the nature of strategic competition in space. Today's most pressing security concerns are best considered using an irregular warfare lens because incidents and points of potential conflict fall outside the definition of armed conflict. While some universal rules of combat apply across all domains, conflict in space up-ends and flips those assumed standards of understanding. John Klein provides a solution to reckoning with the many malicious, nefarious, and irresponsible behaviors in the space domain by using the irregular warfare framework. This offers a new paradigm through which one can view and study conflict, outside traditional combat, involving state and non-state actors. A "war" in space will be utterly unlike any that have happened on Earth, though scholars can provide lessons from past conflict to understand the flashpoints in the heavens. Providing the needed foundational understanding, Fight for the Final Frontier makes the case that irregular warfare in the space domain is shaped by the fundamental nature of all warfare, along with universal principles of strategy and the essential unity of all strategic experience. Going one step further, John Klein outlines the new arenas for battle, new areas of conflict and competition, and the necessary concepts for operating in this bold new frontier."--

Abstract

"Meet fiction's great pioneer of space exploration in his very first adventures. The swashbuckling character who ultimately became world-famous as Buck Rogers made his debut in the 1920s in these two tales from the legendary pulp magazine Amazing Stories. The intrepid voyager, who emerged from a state of suspended animation into the twenty-fifth century, became a star of movies, radio, television, and video games and inspired a host of imitators. Armageddon 2419 A.D introduces World War I veteran Anthony Rogers and the peculiar circumstances under which he awakens, like Rip Van Winkle, to a strange new world. North America has been overrun by invaders from the East who imposed their own civilization, condemning the natives to a furtive existence in the forests and hills. Rogers encounters a rebel unit of Americans and readily joins their attempts to rebuild their society, using his wartime experience to help mount a revolt against their oppressors. This futuristic fantasy -- accompanied by its sequel, The Airlords of Han -- offers rollicking adventures and remarkably prescient predictions of later technological advances"--

Abstract

"Since the Cold War, outer space has become of strategic importance for nations looking to seize the ultimate high ground. World powers establishing a presence there must consider, among other things, how they will conduct warfare in orbit. Leaders must dispense with "Buck Rogers" notions about operations in space and realize that policies there will have serious ramifications for their success in geopolitics. How should nations view space? How should they fight there? What would space warfare look like and how should strategists approach it? Offering critical observations regarding this unique theater of international relations, a military professional explores the strategic implications as human affairs move beyond Earth's atmosphere."--

Abstract

This book, authored by Dr. Jensine Andresen, explores the intersection of ethics, advanced intelligence (ETI), and Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). It presents a framework for understanding reality through a deontological ethical lens, contrasting with the human utilitarian approach. The book argues for the necessity of adopting an ontology of wholeness to achieve social justice and species survival. It integrates topics such as quantum theory, geopolitics, and acculturation with ETI, drawing on David Bohm's philosophical contributions. Andresen emphasizes the importance of demilitarization and expanding human cognition to foster compassion and creativity. The work is intended for readers interested in ethics, philosophy, and extraterrestrial intelligence.

Abstract

The past five decades have witnessed often fierce international rivalry in space, but also surprising military restraint. Now, with an increasing number of countries capable of harming U.S. space assets, experts and officials have renewed a long-standing debate over the best route to space security. Some argue that space defenses will be needed to protect critical military and civilian satellites. Others argue that space should be a ""sanctuary"" from deployed weapons and military conflict, particularly given the worsening threat posed by orbital space debris. Moltz puts this debate in
