Combined positron emission tomography (PET) or single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with computed tomography (CT) has developed into the faste- growing imaging modality largely because combined PET or SPECT with CT data acquisition is highly synergistic in diagnosis and therapeutic evaluation. All currently available data indicate that integrated PET or SPECT/CT is more sensitive and s- ci?c than either of its constituent imaging methods alone and probably more so than images obtained from separate systems viewed side by side. The PET or SPECT/CT provides precise localization of the lesions, thereby increasing diagnostic speci?city particularly by reducing false-positive ?ndings. The other advantage of adding CT is that the transmission data obtained with the CT component is useful for attenuation correction of the emission data. This makes PET/CT 25%–30% faster than PET alone with standard attenuation–correction method, leading to higher patient throughput and a more comfortable examination, which typically lasts 30 minutes or less. With hybrid imaging, unique physiologic information bene?ts from a precise to- graphic localization. Simultaneous evaluation of metabolic and anatomic information about normal and disease processes is needed to answer complex clinical questions and also raise the level of con?dence of scan interpretation. It is always dif?cult to consider three dimensions in the mind’s eye and view the relationship of the viscera and fascial planes in transverse and vertical sections of the body’s structure. The introduction of modern imaging techniques has enormously expanded the already considerable importance of sectional anatomy.

This atlas showcases cross-sectional anatomy for the proper interpretation of images generated from PET/MRI, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT applications. Hybrid imaging is at the forefront of nuclear and molecular imaging and enhances data acquisition for the purposes of diagnosis and treatment. Simultaneous evaluation of anatomic and metabolic information about normal and abnormal processes addresses complex clinical questions and raises the level of confidence of the scan interpretation. Extensively illustrated with high-resolution PET/MRI, PET/CT and SPECT/CT images, this atlas provides precise morphologic information for the whole body as well as for specific regions such as the head and neck, abdomen, and musculoskeletal system. Atlas and Anatomy of PET/MRI, PET/CT, AND SPECT/CT is a unique resource for physicians and residents in nuclear medicine, radiology, oncology, neurology, and cardiology. .

Clinical PET and PET/CT, 2nd Edition presents a valuable overview of the basic principles and clinical applications of PET and PET/CT. Emphasis is placed on the familiarization of normal distribution, artifacts, and common imaging agents such as FDG in conjunction with CT, MRI, and US to establish the clinical effectiveness of PET and PET/CT. Practical information about updated PET and PET/CT scanners, imaging processing, correlation, and quantification of PET and PET/CT measurements is also presented. This book is divided into two sections, the first half dealing with the basic principles of PET and PET/CT for instrumentation, fusion, radiopharmaceuticals, radiosynthesis, safety, and cost analysis. The second part of this volume presents chapters on the clinical techniques and applications of PET and PET/CT for common oncologic, cardiologic, and neurologic diseases. Numerous full color images provide comprehensive coverage on essential clinical PET and PET/CT studies.
