Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

As a region, the Banat has many unique features owing to its specific geographical location, its multi- and intercultural composition, and the cultural diversity of the people who live there. The goal of this volume is to shine a spotlight on the inhabitants of the Banat, to reflect upon their historical experiences, to describe their mentalities, and to show how their attitudes have changed over time.

Abstract

Reports of influenza-like illnesses date back to the Middle Ages, and outbreaks of influenza likely afflicted humans long before that. Over the last half century, influenza virus research has led to the development of two classes of antivirals – ion channel and neuraminidase inhibitors. Recently, a method of the artificial generation of an influenza virus was established. This system has been instrumental in the development of novel influenza vaccines and in the understanding of viral pathogenicity and the functions of viral proteins. Influenza Virus: Methods and Protocols summarizes the current techniques that have made this progress possible, ranging from protocols for virus isolation, growth, and subtyping to procedures for the efficient generation of any influenza virus. Written in the successful Methods in Molecular Biology™ series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible protocols, and notes on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls.   Authoritative and easily accessible, Influenza Virus: Methods and Protocols seeks to serve both professionals and novices with the techniques used in numerous laboratories around the world that are, thus, the building blocks that underpin almost all influenza virus research.

Abstract

Advanced Potentiometry provides a platform for the accurate interpretation of potentiometric titration data. It accurately presents the calculation of stability constants and equilibrium processes without systematic errors. This authoritative monograph details the calculation of the total potential anomalies/systematic errors in emf cells containing either mixtures of strong electrolytes or equilibrium systems at all the experimental conditions generally used in potetiometric titrations. It also presents a critical analysis of these methods. The book details a method that is correct and free from systematic errors as well as one that correctly describes both nature and the environment. It is the ideal resource for high school teachers, lecturers, researchers, PhD graduates and undergraduate students working in the fields of solution chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and analytical chemistry and environmental research.
