Ist 1968 gescheitert? Die Frage ist falsch gestellt. Die Ereignisse, die Bedeutung und die Auswirkungen von '68 lassen sich nicht in einem schlüssigen Narrativ fassen. Das Jahr beschreibt einen Kulminationspunkt, an dem höchst heterogene kulturelle, soziale und politische Phänomen in eine Interaktion zueinander treten, ohne ursächlich miteinander verbunden zu sein. Herzstück des Bandes ist ein Essay von Hermann Kappelhoff, der '68 aus der Analyse von Happenings, avantgardistischen Aktionen und Filmen heraus als Synonym für eine Form kultureller Gemeinschaftsbildung beschreibt; es markiert die Geburtsstunde der transnationalen Geschmacksgemeinschaft der westlichen Pop- und Jugendkultur. Dass sich der radikale kulturelle Wandel von '68 nur in seiner Heterogenität fassen lässt und die Logik des Happenings und des Widerspruchs zur poetischen Matrix des Kinos wird, zeigt ein Kaleidoskop aus Analysen von Filmen, die 1968 gezeigt wurden.

"Germany's acceptance of its direct responsibility for the Holocaust has strengthened its relationship with Israel and has led to a deep commitment to combat antisemitism and rebuild Jewish life in Germany. As we draw close to a time when there will be no more firsthand experience of the horrors of the Holocaust, there is great concern about what will happen when German responsibility turns into history. Will the present taboo against open antisemitism be lifted as collective memory fades? There are alarming signs of the rise of the far right, which includes blatantly antisemitic elements, already visible in public discourse. But it is mainly the radicalization of the otherwise moderate Muslim population of Germany and the entry of almost a million refugees since 2015 from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan that appears to make German society less tolerant and somewhat less inhibited about articulating xenophobic attitudes. The evidence is unmistakable-overt antisemitism is dramatically increasing once more. The Future of the German-Jewish Past deals with the formidable challenges created by these developments. It is conceptualized to offer a variety of perspectives and views on the question of the future of the German-Jewish past. The volume addresses topics such as antisemitism, Holocaust memory, historiography, and political issues relating to the future relationship between Jews, Israel, and Germany. While the central focus of this volume is Germany, the implications go beyond the German-Jewish experience and relate to some of the broader challenges facing modern societies today"--

ZUG, the official journal of the German Society for Business History (Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte), ranks among the top business history journals in the world. Founded in 1956 under the original title “Tradition”, it changed its name to ZUG in 1976, and added “Journal of Business History” to its masthead in 2006. This last change is indicative of the editorial board’s strong determination to provide a truly international forum. ZUG allows international historians to reach a large group of European scholars in business history, and it also provides an opportunity for international business historians to keep track of the latest research in Europe.

Whether increasing life expectancy leads to better health remains still controversial. Three topics are explored: (1) vanguard groups which inform about possible levels of health if the general social and environmental conditions were to approach those of the vanguard group; (2) the social and behavioral determinants of health differentiated into proximal and distal factors; (3) vulnerable groups such as migrants and the health differences between migrant groups. Newly available population-based data as well as new study designs and advanced statistical modelling form the basis for the empirical analyses. Die in diesem Band versammelten Ergebnisse zeigen deutlich, dass die Gesundheitspolitik sich insbesondere um die Bewohner ländlicher Gebiete kümmern muss, denn Spezialisten sind dort rar gesät. Außerdem müssen weniger gut gestellte Bevölkerungsgruppen sowie Migranten stärker in den Fokus rücken. Nur so können im demografischen Wandel mehr Menschen als bisher von der Tendenz zur Verschiebung alterstypischer Erkrankungen ins höhere Alter profitieren.
