Malgré la croissance économique, malgré l’émergence d’une économie du savoir faisant appel à une plus grande qualification, malgré la diffusion d’innovations organisationnelles porteuses d’une autonomie accrue et malgré le déclin des emplois d’usine physiquement très contraignants, plusieurs études concluent à une détérioration de la qualité du travail et de l’emploi au cours des dernières années. C’est d’ailleurs la perception de nombreux observateurs au Québec et au Canada. Comment expliquer ce paradoxe? Depuis la fin des années 1990, la qualité du travail et de l’emploi a connu un intérêt grandissant en Europe et aux États-Unis. Toutefois, la définition du concept et les dimensions qui le composent sont très variables, tandis que les recherches au Québec et au Canada sont plutôt rares. En vue de combler ces lacunes, sont réunies dans cet ouvrage des contributions susceptibles de grandement contribuer à une meilleure connaissance de l’évolution de la qualité du travail et de l’emploi au Québec et à un approfondissement des méthodes et des théories pertinentes à l’étude du phénomène.
