Peter Greenaway (né en 1942, Newport, Pays de Galles, vit et travaille à Amsterdam) est un cinéaste et plasticien gallois, dont les expositions et installations ont pu être vues au Palazzo Fortuny, Venise, à la Galerie Joan Miro, Barcelone, le Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam ainsi qu'au Louvre. Réalisateur de 12 films et près de 50 courts métrages et documentaires, il est régulièrement nominé aux festivals de Cannes, Venise et Berlin. Il a collaboré avec les compositeurs Michael Nyman, Glen Branca, Wim Mertens, Jean-Baptiste Barriere, Philip Glass, Louis Andriessen, Borut Krzisnik et David Lang. Parmi ses œuvres majeures, Meurtre dans un jardin anglais, Le Cuisinier, le voleur, sa femme et son amant, The Pillow Book, The Tulse Luper Suitcases... Compte et conte : Drowning by Numbers est l'histoire de trois femmes noyant successivement leur mari et dont la narration se structure numériquement autour du nombre 100. Un jeu de piste où la narration elle-même est le support d'un jeu sur l'amour et la mort, où les femmes gagnent et les enfants sont les victimes. Les règles du jeu se tissent dans les rapports de l'homme avec la mort et le temps.

À partir de 1733, la réanimation médicale, auparavant anecdotique, devint incontournable dans l’univers des Lumières. Ce développement débuta avec les noyés, et s’incarna à travers une pratique énigmatique : l’insufflation anale de fumée de tabac. Pour comprendre ce changement d’attitude face à la mort, il faut retracer le discours qui le porta, notamment l’apport inédit de savants protestants fascinés par les états entre nature et miracle, mort et vie. Mais expliquer la pratique étonnante promue par les Lumières requiert d’aller plus loin : le geste de souffler au cul pour redonner la vie provient des contes et des rites, principalement du carnaval. C’est ainsi qu’involontairement les Lumières ont puisé dans la culture le matériau étrange qui permit d’étendre le geste médical à la mort.

There is currently no accurate and comprehensive model for the search of drowning victims in urban areas. Therefore, this thesis aims to contribute to the creation of such a model, by focusing on the calibration and validation of a wind tunnel experimental setup performed on a full-scale model. 
To achieve this, existing search for drowning persons models and their equations are analysed, fluid dynamics models applied to the human body are also reviewed, as well as papers on the position of a drowning person's body. This led to the identification of two essential parameters for such a model, which are the projected area and drag coefficient of a drifting body, and some ranges of values in which they should lie. 
To obtain results for the projected surface area parameter, several data acquisitions are made on a full-size dummy, using a laser scanning method and photogrammetry. Once these data collected, they allow the creation of a 3D digital model that can be adjusted according to the desired configuration in order to be adaptable to the experiments that will be carried out later. The projected surface of the dummy is calculated for a series of rotations along different axes in order to establish an initial database that can be used later. 
Then, the experimental setup for obtaining the drag coefficient values is establish in the wind tunnel on the full-scale model. This is carried out on the full-scale model after it was modified so that it can be placed as desired in the wind tunnel. The speed range is between 3.1 and 9.4 m/s with Reynolds numbers in a range between 9.3*10E5 and 3*10E6. 
This wind tunnel experiment provides a first estimation of the drag coefficient values of the full-scale model and these values are compared with other literature results obtained in wind tunnels in various fields such as cycling, skiing or skating. 
Finally, the prospects for improving the experimental set-up and the results obtained during the 3D digitisation will be discussed.

Resuscitation is a monthly international and interdisciplinary medical journal. The papers published deal with the etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of acute diseases. Clinical and experimental research, reviews and case histories and description of methods used in clinical resuscitation or experimental resuscitation research are encouraged.
