SGG 2 offers a commented critical edition of the preserved textual fragments from the Homeric studies of the Greek scholar-poet Antimachus of Colophon (floruit ca. 400 bce). If as an epic and elegiac poet Antimachus was a forerunner of the Alexandrian docta poesis, he was also an editor and scholar of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, producing an 'ekdosis' of both poems (the first among the so-called 'kat'andra' 'editions') and a syngramma, i.e. monograph, in which he dealt with biographical, exegetical and glossographical issues.

"SGG 1 offers the first critical edition of, and commentaries on, the textual fragments of the ancient Greek grammarians Antidorus, Dionysius Iambus, Epigenes, Lysanias, Parmenon, Silenus, Simaristus, and Sim(m)ias. All of these personalities belong, or so plausibly appear, to the early Hellenistic period (3rd-2nd centuries BC) and share a special interest in glossographical issues (mainly discussions of problems concerning lexical usages and customs, in Greek literature as well as in ordinary life of their times) and/or in literary history. Each entry includes: a biographical and cultural profile of the grammarian; the text of testimonies and fragments critically edited, translated, and analytically commented on; a thorough bibliography; and indices"--

"We learn from ancient sources that the grammarian Timachidas of Lindos (Rhodes; 2nd/1st century BCE) dealt with linguistic issues ( glōssai, Dinner Party) and commented on poetic works of Classical (Euripides' Medea, Aristophanes' Frogs) and early Hellenistic period (Menander's Kolax, Eratosthenes' Hermes). The attractive hypothesis of identifying him with the Timachidas who compiled the Lindian Chronicle (99 BCE) is deeply discussed - and cautiously dismissed - by Ivan Matijašić in this volume, in the framework of his introduction to, critical edition and English translation of, and commentary on the above-mentioned grammatical fragments, with extensive bibliography and indexes."

"This volume brings together studies that combine both traditional and contemporary tools in the study of syntactic geolectal variation, with a special focus on a subset of Iberian varieties. There is an increasing body of research on syntactic micro-variation, but the interaction between dialectology (which makes use of atlases, corpora, databases, questionnaires, interviews, etc.) and formal syntactic studies has traditionally been weak (or even nonexistent), which is precisely the gap the contributions in this book aim at filling in. From a broader perspective, this collection is meant as a contribution to the subfield of linguistic variation and to the more general field of Romance linguistics, with special interest in Spanish and in other Iberian languages. The volume is meant for both researchers and students interested in linguistic variation or dialectology and, specifically, in syntactic variation in Iberian languages"--
