This recommended practice describes how to determine the impact of preventive maintenance on the reliability of industrial and commercial power systems. It is likely to be of greatest value to the power-oriented engineer with limited experience in the area of reliability. It can also be an aid to all engineers responsible for the electrical design of industrial and commercial power systems.

General technical recommended practice for operation of pulverized coal-fired boilers in power plants is provided, including start-up, shutdown, operation and maintenance, and emergency and failure detection/handling/prevention. In this document, a boiler with existing single units with a capacity of 300 MW to 600 MW in thermal power plants, where pulverized coal is combusted to generate electricity and/or to supply heat, is discussed. Development of boiler operation code as a reference to determine detailed operation steps and/or procedures for a particular boiler in the plant is outlined. The specifications of manufacturers, successful experiences from practice, and stipulations defined in other related high-level standards/regulations/codes are also considered.

A common format for the data files and exchange medium needed for the interchange of various types of fault, test, or simulation data is defined. Sources of transient data are described, and the case of diskettes as an exchange medium is recommended. Issues of sampling rates, filters, and sample rate conversions for transient data being exchanged are discussed. Files for data exchange are specified, as is the organization of the data. A sample file is given.

This thesis by Oscar Björklund focuses on modeling failure in high-strength steel sheets, specifically Docol 600DP and Docol 1200M. It involves the calibration and verification of constitutive laws and failure models through experiments and numerical simulations. The research examines ductile, shear fractures, and instability phenomena in sheet metals. The work employs an eight-parameter high exponent yield surface to represent anisotropic behavior and mixed hardening to capture non-linear strain paths. The results are validated against test outcomes, showing good agreement. The study is supported by industrial partners and offers insights into mechanical behavior and modeling techniques for advanced steel materials.
