Saša Stanišić is one of the most important voices in contemporary German literature. This volume reveals new perspectives on Stanišić’s work and his authorial persona. It focuses on previously neglected aspects, such as Stanišić’s early prose, his online writing, practices of authorial staging, and the work he has done on the canon. It thus provides stimuli for further differentiation in scholarly discussions about the author and his texts. Saša Stanišić zählt zu den wichtigsten Stimmen der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur. Kritik wie Publikum feiern den Autor gleichermaßen und die Liste seiner Auszeichnungen und Preise ist beeindruckend. Seine Texte haben Aufnahme in die Schulcurricula gefunden, Universitäten laden ihn zu Poetikdozenturen und auch die Literaturwissenschaft setzt sich mit seinem Werk auseinander: Erstmals wird seinem Œuvre ein Sammelband gewidmet, der neue Perspektiven auf Stanišićs Texte und seine Autorpersona vorlegt. In den Fokus rücken bislang unerforschte Aspekte des Werks, wie u.a. Stanišićs frühe Prosa, sein Schreiben im Netz, auktoriale Inszenierungspraktiken oder seine Arbeit am Kanon. Die Beiträge liefern so Impulse zu einer weiteren Differenzierung der Forschungsdiskussion um den Autor, seine Texten und seine Rolle im Literaturbetrieb und mögen damit nicht zuletzt dazu anregen, übergreifenden ästhetischen Tendenzen und Praktiken im literarischen Feld der Gegenwart nachzugehen. Mit einer umfangreichen Bibliografie der bisher vorliegenden Forschungsbeiträge zu Saša Stanišić.

In recent years, new forms of public self-documentation have become popular on social media platforms and especially through so-called influencers, forming their own media cultural microcosm. Even though YouTube has become emblematic of this cultural technique, media self-documentations are also formative for other services such as Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat. Robert Dörre understands the emergence of these self-designs as an aesthetic practice and traces the media-historical shifts that public self-documentation has experienced on the Internet. In order to make these specific aesthetics, rituals, motifs, and economies accessible to media cultural studies, the work approaches the phenomenon from five perspectives: The reception as authentic self, the self as part of social media, the self as brand, the serial self, and the self as amateur and artist.

Von Georges Méliès über Alfred Hitchcock bis hin zu David Lynch - das Motiv der Box taucht in der Filmgeschichte immer wieder auf. Dabei konfrontiert es die BetrachterInnen mit einem medialen Paradox: Die Box ist sichtbar und umschließt zugleich einen Raum, der verborgen bleibt. Als Motiv birgt jede Box eine eigene Geschichte, die sich im Laufe des Films entfaltet. Damit ermöglicht sie eine kritische Perspektive auf das, was scheinbar selbsterklärend vor unseren Augen liegt. Audio films enable blind and visually impaired people to enjoy a feature film. An audio film consists of the original audio track of the film and the audio description. This film description compensates for the video track of the film. It is therefore a purely auditory media text. Translation studies consider the work of audio descriptors as an intercodal translation process and as a part of audiovisual translation. Maher Tyfour examined the concrete implementation of audiodescription on a corpus of image translations for the Munich Tatort series. His focus was on the city's staging. By comparing them with the original video tracks of the feature films, he illustrates the intertextual relationship between original and translation. In the analysis he identifies the strategies of the audio descriptors that are partly unconsciously implemented in the translation process, explains them and discusses them in terms of text and translation studies. Maher Tyfour studied English at the University of Damascus (Syria) before coming to Germany in 2009. After completing his master's degree in Intercultural German Studies at the Georg-August University of Göttingen, he earned his doctorate at the University of Hildesheim. He works as a teacher of English and German as a second language in Saxony.
