The Petosiris necropolis at Tuna el-Gebel is one of the largest cemeteries of the Roman period in Egypt and belonged to the 'metropolis' Hermopolis Magna. This volume presents new archaeological and architectural-historical research results on the tomb houses of house groups 1 and 2, site management and roof drainage techniques. They provide extensive insights into construction methods, burial customs and ideas of the afterlife in a multicultural society. For the first time, numerous decorated tomb houses are comprehensively published and commented on. This volume was produced as part of the DFG research project "Celebrating with the Dead. Spatial Concepts and Burial Rituals in the Petosiris Necropolis of Tuna el-Gebel/Egypt". Sie liefern umfangreiche Erkenntnisse zu Bauweisen, Bestattungssitten und Jenseitsvorstellungen in einer multikulturellen Gesellschaft. Erstmals werden zahlreiche dekorierte Grabbauten umfassend publiziert und kommentiert. Dieser Band entstand im Rahmen des DFG-Forschungsprojekts "Feiern mit den Toten. Die zweite Auflage von "Modern Construction Envelopes" basiert eigentlich auf den zwei Büchern "Modern Construction Roofs" und "Modern Construction Facades" von Andrew Watts. Beide Bände wurden zu einem einzigen Buch zusammengefasst und inhaltlich zusammengeführt, was die Betrachtung von Fassaden und Dächern als Hüllen ermöglicht. Das ist von besonderem Interesse für Design und der damit verbundenen kreativen Freiheit. Andrew Watts stellt die konstruktiven und materialbezogenen Details anhand aktueller Beispiele von renommierten Architekten vor. Diese Präsentation basiert auf einem leicht verständlichen Text, Fotos und standardisierten Detailzeichnungen sowie 3D-Darstellungen der Bauelemente. Dieser Zugang ermöglicht ein einfaches Verständnis der Komplexität von modernen Hüllen und deren Verwendung als Knowhow für die eigenen Bedürfnisse.
