La antropología y algunas disciplinas afines como son la geografía y la sociología se encuentran en esta obra con el fin de pensar conjuntamente el objeto que les es común: el espacio. La publicación sigue la vía iniciada por el libro pionero de José Luis García, "Antropología del territorio" (1976) i recoge algunas de las contribuciones de diferentes investigadores en el marco de un seminario de tercer ciclo sobre antropología del espacio promovido por el Equipo de Investigación de Antropología de los Procesos Identitarios (ERAPI). Angesichts der wachsenden Intensität des interkommunalen Wettbewerbs kommt dem Städte- und Regionenmarketing in Wissenschaft und Praxis wachsende Aufmerksamkeit zu. Die vorliegende Arbeit verfolgt das Ziel, die Bewußtwerdung und kommunikative Herausstellung räumlicher Identität als wesentliche Voraussetzung für die Profilierung im Wettbewerbsumfeld deutlich zu machen. Der Konkretisierung des Begriffsverständnisses räumlicher Identität liegt eine Zweisamkeit zugrunde, welche zwischen der Identität der Person und der Identität des Raumes unterscheidet. Darauf aufbauend werden Erfolgsvoraussetzungen für das Städte- und Regionenmarketing dargelegt. Ergänzend zur theoretischen Diskussion erfolgt eine Überprüfung von Teilaspekten räumlicher Identität auf der Basis einer empirischen Studie.

This book is about the production and consumption of history, themes that have gained in importance since the discipline's attempts to disavow its own authority with the ascendancy of postmodern and postcolonial perspectives. Several parallel themes crosscut the book's central focus on the discipline of history: its intellectual history, its historiography, and its connection to memory, particularly in relation to the need to establish the collective identity of 'nation', 'community' or state through a memorialisation process that has much to do with history, or at least with claiming a historicity for collective memory. None of this can be undertaken without an understanding of the roles that history-writing and history-reading have been made to perform in public debates, or perhaps more accurately in public disputes. The book addresses a discomfort with postcolonial theories in and as history. Following are essays that examine the state of the discipline, the art of reading and using archives, practices of tracking the history of ideas, and the themes of history, memory and identity.

This book examines young trans and gender diverse Australians’ views of school-based sex education. The analysis is informed by a queer epistemology that acknowledges the systematic and institutional erasure of trans subjectivities through highly medicalised systems of categorisation. Drawing on primary qualitative data, the author emphasises the accounts of trans and gender diverse young people as they relate to sex education at school, and how they undertake informal learning about sex, gender and identity in other areas of their lives. Ultimately, the book problematises the assumption that the sex education classroom is the most appropriate vehicle for social justice education in relation to queer issues. Queer issues and sex education tend to be packaged together discursively, deliberately or by association in dominant media narratives. However, this discourse constrains queer identities to the realm of sex and health, and therefore does not engage with the social citizenship of queer people. Further, this limits the capacity of schools and teachers to meaningfully explore diversity in the classroom, as sex education is front-and-centre in the so called ‘culture wars’ about gender, sexuality, youth and schools. Barrie Shannon is Lecturer in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Their research focuses on educational issues for LGBTIQA+ youth, informed by intersectional feminism, queer theory, and critical pedagogy.
