Aux lendemains de la disparition de Pierre Bourdieu, une soixantaine de chercheurs en sciences sociales, d'artistes, d'écrivains, hommes et femmes de différentes générations, en France, en Europe et dans le monde entier, ont accepté d'évoquer leur " rencontre avec Pierre Bourdieu " : l'homme et/ou l'œuvre. Pour les uns, le souvenir de cette rencontre a donné lieu à un portrait : du " prof de philo " à Moulins au professeur au Collège de France, de l'ethnologue au statisticien, de l'homme de terrain au théoricien, du savant au politique. Pour d'autres, de différentes générations, le récit de la rencontre - à la fois portrait et autoportrait - est d'abord celui d'un apprentissage du métier de sociologue. Les témoignages des quatre coins du monde permettent de rendre compte des " effets " extrêmement divers d'un pays à l'autre, d'une discipline à l'autre, d'une œuvre internationalement consacrée dans le champ des sciences sociales. Une dernière série de témoignages met en évidence l'impact d'une œuvre protéiforme, dans diverses disciplines - de la philosophie à l'ethnologie, de l'économie à la littérature - et dans différents domaines de la vie sociale - de la vie politique à la vie artistique.

Die von Pierre Bourdieus Grundlagenwerk »Die Regeln der Kunst« ausgelöste Debatte um Nutzen und Nachteil fortgeschrittener Literatursoziologie hat sich hierzulande meist auf rein abstrakter Ebene abgespielt. Dieser Band versammelt erstmals in deutscher Sprache Aufsätze, die die Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Feldtheorie für die Literaturwissenschaft praktisch ausloten. Es handelt sich um theoriegeleitete, aber empirisch ausgerichtete Untersuchungen von Autorinnen und Autoren aus Frankreich, England, Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz zu Beispielen der Literatur und des literarischen Lebens vom 17. bis zum 20. Jahrhundert. Die Beiträge stellen eine Ausweitung der Bourdieuschen Analysen in geografischer, historischer und thematischer Hinsicht dar, wenn nötig eine Kritik und/oder Weiterentwicklung. In Germany, the debate about the pros and cons of advanced literary sociology sparked off by Pierre Bourdieu's basic work »The Rules of Art« has mostly taken place on an abstract level. The present volume is the first collection of essays in German to discuss the applications of field theory for the study of literature in a practical way. The essays are theory-driven but empirically-oriented researches by authors from France, England, Germany, Austria and Switzerland on examples of literature and literary life from the 17th to the 20th century. These contributions extend Bourdiean analysis in a geographical, historical and thematic sense, and constitute, where necessary, a critique and/or further development of his ideas.
