Implementing IP and Ethernet on the 4G Mobile Network delves into the 4G mobile network that allows an IP packet transmitted by a mobile to be transported to its gateway, reciprocally using the following networks: MPLS-VPN, VPLS and OTN. The mechanisms for the implementation of quality of service (QoS) on the EPS, IP, Ethernet and MPLS networks are presented, as is the security for the LTE radio interface, the NAS messages and the links of the transport (IPSec). In addition, readers will find discussions of the aspects relating to the synchronization of the eNB entities, including SyncE and IEEE 1588 mechanisms.

In the US, pressure has been building for faster and less expensive broadband data services. However, broadband services and prices have not kept pace either with demand or with progress in information technology. This title analyses the markets and policy issues underlying the broadband dilemma.

In the months after the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) 2017 decision to repeal network neutrality as US policy, it is easy to forget the decades of public, organizational, media and governmental struggle to control digital policy and open access to the internet. Using dialogic communication tactics, the public, governmental actors and organizations impacted the ruling through YouTube comments, the FCC online system and social network communities. Network neutrality, which requires that all digital sites can be accessed with equal speed and ability, is an important example of how dialogic communication facilitates public engagement in policy debates. However, the practice and ability of the public, organizations and media to engage in dialogic communication are also greatly impacted by the FCC's decision. This book reflects on decades of global engagement in the network neutrality debate and the evolution of dialogic communication techniques used to shape one of the most relevant and critical digital policies in history.

Position estimation of wireless devices has many applications in short-range networks. Ultra-wideband (UWB) signals provide accurate positioning capabilities that can be harnessed in wireless systems to realize these applications. This title provides detailed coverage of UWB positioning systems, offering comprehensive treatment of signal and receiver design for ranging, range estimation techniques, theoretical performance bounds, ranging algorithms and protocols. Beginning with a discussion of the potential applications of wireless positioning, and investigating UWB signals for such applications, later chapters establish a signal processing framework for analyzing UWB positioning and ranging systems. The recent IEEE 802.15.4a standard related to UWB is also studied in detail. Each chapter contains examples, problems and Matlab scripts to help readers grasp key concepts. This is an ideal text for graduate students and researchers in electrical and computer engineering, and practitioners in the communications industry, particularly those in wireless communications.
