Britton and Pugin's Illustrations of the Public Buildings of London was a landmark work on the key buildings of London. Featuring both well loved and lesser known buildings by some of the greatest architects of their day, including Christopher Wren, Nicholas Hawksmoor, John Nash, Decimus Burton, Inigo Jones, George Dance and John Soane, the volumes provide both architectural and historical detail on each of the buildings and are accompanied by Augustus Pugin's magnificent drawings of the facades, plans, interiors, architectural details, etc. Among the buildings featured are St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the Banqueting House, Temple Church, Bank of England, the Law Courts, Regent's Park Terraces, and Freemasons' Hall, amongst many others. The term 'street architecture' was first coined in these two volumes. Now rare, these important volumes are reissued in a larger format with a new introduction by a leading contemporary scholar.
