On imaginerait mal le protestantisme sans ses pasteurs. Leur existence et leur visibilité demeurent l'un des grands paradoxes de cette confession qui, avec sa doctrine du "sacerdoce universel ", prétend avoir délibérément renoncé au principe même d'une prêtrise distincte de l'ensemble des fidèles. Quelle est alors la raison d'être de ces pasteurs protestants? D'où cette idée vient-elle? Quelle est leur histoire? Sont-ils encore nécessaires?
