The seventy-nine monotypes in this catalogue represent the principal styles and themes that emerged not only in Harry Bertoia's printmaking, but in his sculpture as well. June Kompass Nelson, author of Harry Bertoia, Sculptor, analyzes the graphic works and places them in the context of Bertoia's total oeuvre, with particular regard to their relationship with his sculpture. A teacher of metalwork and printmaking at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Bertoia began working in monotype in 1940-nearly a decade before his first attempts at sculpture-and continually returned to the medium until his death in 1978. Nelson's introduction, biographical material, and well-documented chronology contribute to the portrait of a Michigan artist of international repute who maintained his "regionalist sensibility".

A Catalogue of 18th-Century Symphonies makes possible for the first time a comprehensive view of one of the largest and most significant repertories in the history of music. Until now, no one has known for certain who wrote what, and hundreds of symphonies have been attributed in manuscript and printed sources to two or more composers. Under these conditions no reliable history of the symphony could be written. Now, thanks to Jan LaRue·s indefatigable efforts, we know how many symphonies have survived from the eighteenth century, where they are, their composers, and how many each composer wrote; and we can see at a glance the favorite keys, movement sequences, and instrumental combinations that were used. Volume I, Thematic Identifier, enables the user to identify more than 13,000 symphonies by means of the note names of the opening bars of the first violin part. This powerful reference tool also tells whether a particular symphony exists anywhere under a different name and whether there are any anonymous sources for the work. Volume II, Composers' Worklists, will provide detailed information for all the symphonies attributed to a particular composer in Volume I. With this indispensable bibliographic resource, Jan LaRue has established a solid foundation for public reference, performance, recording, and future research.

This book accompanies the first exhibition entirely of Jamaican art to take place in the north-west of the UK. The exhibition, Jamaica Making: The Theresa Roberts Art Collection, is sited at the Victoria Gallery and Museum, Liverpool in 2022, and is a comprehensive presentation of the best of Jamaican art since the 1960s.The Theresa Roberts Art Collection is the private collection of Theresa Roberts, a Jamaican-born businesswoman and philanthropist, who has made the UK her home. This collection offers an important insight into the development of Jamaican art since the country gained independence in 1962. Indeed, the exhibition also acts to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Jamaican independence in 2022.Included in the book are the following: an official welcome from the Prime Minister of Jamaica; an essay by the collector, exhibition donor and philanthropist, Theresa Roberts; an introduction by eminent British-Jamaican art historian, Edward Lucie-Smith; essays by Emma Roberts, the exhibition curator (Liverpool John Moores University), Davinia Gregory-Kameka, writer, educator and researcher (Columbia University, USA) and Sireita Mullings, arts practitioner and visual sociologist (University of Bedfordshire). The final section of the book is the full visual catalogue of the Jamaica Making exhibition – a unique record of this historic exhibition.

The task of design is to integrate functional requirements, contextual conditions and technological means into the creation of a work of architectural culture. After twenty years of practice, a team involving Ignacio Dahl Rocha, Kenneth Ross, Christian Leibbrand, Manuela Toscan and others of the Lausanne-based Swiss office of Richter ∙ Dahl Rocha & Associés has undertaken to formulate the knowledge behind their architectural practice in a comprehensive manual. Covering the full span from initial design, building typology, technology to the cooperation with other professions in four extensive sections, this book conveys the concepts, methods and details that constitute the tools of state-of-the-art architectural projects. The material used is completely first-hand, with the technical drawings redrawn to this purpose, coming from projects like the much-acclaimed integral renovation of Nestlé Headquarters, from residential, office and healthcare buildings to the groundbreaking Swiss Tech Convention Center on the Lausanne Polytechnic Campus. Written with the editorial collaboration of Denise Bratton, this book sets new standards for architectural publications as tools for design.
