Met deze set van aanbevelingen nodigt de KBS de socialprofitorganisaties uit om aan de slag te gaan en de toepassing ervan te concretiseren volgens de specificiteit van elke organisatie. De aanbevelingen zijn aangevuld met meer gedetailleerde richtlijnen, voor deze die wensen te steunen op de aandachtspunten bij concrete toepassing.In mei 2008 richtten verschillende verantwoordelijken van socialprofitorganisaties (SPO's) zich met een heldere vraag tot de Koning Boudewijnstichting: een stuurgroep organiseren met sleutelfiguren uit de sector om samen aanbevelingen van goed bestuur uit te werken die men in de organisaties zou kunnen toepassen in België. Als gevolg van deze vraag werd een groep van een 20-tal personen bijeengebracht, die zowel de opstellers als de dragers van het initiatief zouden zijn. Deze personen hebben aanvaard om in eigen naam deel te nemen aan dit initiatief.Met dit initiatief wil de Koning Boudewijnstichting het besturen van SPO's aantrekkelijker maken door de positie van bestuurders te verstevigen en hen een houvast te bieden. Op die manier kan ze het de organisaties ook makkelijker maken om vrijwillige en geëngageerde bestuurders te vinden

Las investigaciones reunidas en este libro reconstruyen las historias de los principales archivos documentales oficiales de la Norpatagonia, pero también de los nuevos archivos surgidos en el ámbito de comunidades, organizaciones y colectivos sociales subalternizados en las lógicas y burocracias que signaron la conformación de los primeros. De este modo, la contribución principal de la obra es la pesquisa sobre una institución poco problematizada pero central para garantizar la memoria, para la producción de investigaciones y también –y fundamentalmente– para el ejercicio de derechos ciudadanos. The investigations gathered in this book reconstruct the histories of the main official documentary archives of North Patagonia, but also of the new archives that have arisen in the sphere of communities, organizations and social groups subordinated in the logic and bureaucracies that marked the formation of those first institutions. The main contribution of the work is the analysis of a central organization to guarantee memory, for the production of research and also –and fundamentally– for the exercise of citizen rights.

"At a time of escalating conflict between states and NGOs engaged in migrant search and rescue operations across the Mediterranean, this book explores the emerging trend of citizen-led forms of helping others at the borders of Europe. In recent years, Europe's borders have become new sites of intervention for traditional humanitarian actors and governmental agencies, but also, increasingly, for volunteer and activist initiatives led by "ordinary" citizens. This book sets out to interrogate the shifting relationship between humanitarianism, the securitization of border and migration regimes, and citizenship. Critically examining the "do it yourself" character of refugee aid practices performed by non-professionals coming together to help in informal and spontaneous manners, the volume considers the extent to which these new humanitarian practices challenge established conceptualisations of membership, belonging, and active citizenship.
