La littérature pour enfants, encore peu étudiée à l’université en France, a pourtant été défrichée par une génération de hercheurs « pionniers » parmi lesquels Isabelle Nières-Chevrel, professeur à l’université Rennes 2 de 1969 à 2004, occupe une place essentielle. Ce volume rassemble près d’une vingtaine de contributions qui lui sont offertes en hommage au travail accompli durant ces années de recherche, et surtout dans l’idée d’un fécond passage de relais entre les générations. Parmi ces « jeunes » chercheurs, plusieurs sont ou ont été ses étudiants, beaucoup se sont nourris de ses réflexions, tous incarnent la force d’une génération désormais convaincue que le livre destiné à l’enfance mérite un regard critique aussi aigu et exigeant que les formes littéraires et artistiques les plus légitimées. Formes éditoriales, réécritures et traductions, interprétations par l’image, illustration et création graphique pour l’enfance : tous les sujets qui ont fait l’objet des travaux d’Isabelle Nières-Chevrel trouvent ici des prolongements divers et neufs, portés par des chercheurs français mais aussi belges, suisses, allemands, espagnols, anglais, canadiens ou américains.

How is class depicted in Swedish contemporary literature, and what can it teach us about contemporary society? In Doing Class, literary scholar Åsa Arping tries new pathways into the broad, mainly realistic Swedish novels of recent decades. She finds class-coded actions, thoughts and emotions even outside the traditional working-class literature, and explores how the story of class deepens when it is put into dialogue with other categories, such as gender, age and ethnicity/racialization. Through reflections on the last twenty years of prose publishing, from Torbjörn Flygt's Underdog (2001) to Donia Saleh's Ya Leila (2020), the study shows how literature shapes and discusses the increasingly obscure class concept, where perceptions of work, identity, lifestyle and welfare state are rapidly changing.

22 portretten van Vlaamse illustratoren. Aan de hand van concrete voorbeelden toont Marita Vermeulen wat de Vlaamse illustratoren zo bijzonder maakt en wat hun beeldtaal zo universeel maakt. Met aandacht voor de boeiende historische achtergrond en met een verwijzing naar kunstwerken die illustratoren als Klaas Verplancke, Carll Cneut, André Sollie en anderen inspireerden. Dit boek vertelt het verhaal van 22 illustratoren die door hun vakmanschap en creativiteit het kinderboekenlandschap verrijkt en verruimd hebben. Krachtig en oprecht breken ze teksten open en via een vleugje humor, een anekdote, een onverwacht beeld kleuren ze op eigen wijze ook buiten de lijntjes van het verhaal.
