Abstract

Research on Agents and Multi-Agent Systems has matured during the last decade and many effective applications of this technology are now deployed. PAAMS provides an international forum to present and discuss the latest scientific developments and their effective applications, to assess the impact of the approach, and to facilitate technology transfer. PAAMS started as a local initiative, but has since grown to become THE international yearly platform to present, to discuss, and to disseminate the latest developments and the most important outcomes related to real-world applications. It provides a unique opportunity to bring multi-disciplinary experts, academics and practitioners together to exchange their experience in the development and deployment of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. PAAMS intends to bring together researchers and developers from industry and the academic world to report on the latest scientific and technical advances on the application of multi-agent systems, to discuss and debate the major issues, and to showcase the latest systems using agent based technology. It will promote a forum for discussion on how agent-based techniques, methods, and tools help system designers to accomplish the mapping between available agent technology and application needs. Other stakeholders should be rewarded with a better understanding of the potential and challenges of the agent-oriented approach. This edition of PAAMS special sessions. This symposium is organized by the Bioinformatics, Intelligent System and Educational Technology Research Group (http://bisite.usal.es/) of the University of Salamanca. The present edition will be held in Salamanca, Spain, from 28th to 30th March 2012.

Abstract

Financial Decision Making Using Computational Intelligence covers all the recent developments in complex financial decision making through computational intelligence approaches. Computational intelligence has evolved rapidly in recent years and it is now one of the most active fields in operations research and computer science. The increasing complexity of financial problems and the enormous volume of financial data often make it difficult to apply traditional modeling and algorithmic procedures. In this context, the field of computational intelligence provides a wide range of useful techniques, including new modeling tools for decision making under risk and uncertainty, data mining techniques for analyzing complex data bases, and powerful algorithms for complex optimization problems.   This book presents the recent advances made in financial decision making using computational intelligence, covering both new methodological developments as well as new emerging application areas. This work covers a wide range of topics related to financial decision making, financial modeling, risk management, and financial engineering, including algorithmic trading, financial time-series analysis, asset pricing, portfolio management, auction markets, and insurance services. Practitioners in the financial industry as well as operations researchers, management scientists, and data analysts will find this publication highly useful.

Abstract

The International Symposium on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelli-gence (DCAI´10) is an annual forum that brings together past experience, current work and promising future trends associated with distributed computing, artificial intelligence and their application to provide efficient solutions to real problems. The present edition has been held at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, from 7 to 10 September 2010, within the Congreso Español de Informática (CEDI 2010). Technology transfer in this field is still a challenge, with a large gap between academic research and industrial products. This edition of DCAI aims at contributing to reduce this gap, with a stimulating and productive forum where these communities can work towards future cooperation with social and economi-cal benefits.

Abstract

This book highlights the potential of getting benefits from various applications of computational intelligence techniques. The present book is structured such that to include a set of selected and extended papers from the 6th IEEE International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics SACI 2011, held in Timisoara, Romania, from 19 to 21 May 2011. After a serious paper review performed by the Technical Program Committee only 116 submissions were accepted, leading to a paper acceptance ratio of 65 %. A further refinement was made after the symposium, based also on the assessment of the presentation quality. Concluding, this book includes the extended and revised versions of the very best papers of SACI 2011 and few invited papers authored by prominent specialists. The readers will benefit from gaining knowledge of the computational intelligence and on what problems can be solved in several areas; they will learn what kind of approaches is advised to use in order to solve these problems. A very important benefit for the readers is an understanding of what the major difficulties are and the cost-effective solutions to deal with them. This book will offer a convenient entry for researchers and engineers who intend to work in the important fields of computational intelligence.  .

ISNN is a prestigious annual symposium on neural networks with past events held in Dalian (2004), Chongqing (2005), Chengdu (2006), Nanjing (2007) and Beijing (2008). Over the past few years, ISNN has matured into a well-established series of international conference on neural networks and their applications to other fields. Following this tradition, ISNN 2009 provided an academic forum for the participants to disseminate their new research findings and discuss emerging areas of research. Also, it created a stimulating environment for the participants to interact and exchange information on future research challenges and opportunities of neural networks and their applications.
