Abstract

Nanocomposite materials constitute a rapidly evolving field of science and technology, of which the first applications are already on the market and many more are expected to follow. The admixture of relatively low amounts of nanoparticles (these are, by definition, any morphology having at least one dimension in the nano-range, i.e. particles, fibres, plates) within a matrix of polymer, ceramic or metal has a dramatic increasing effect upon the resultant properties (volume, surface and functional properties). Unusual property combinations can be obtained; resulting in a new class of materials

Abstract

Nanomaterials are a fast developing field of research and applications lie in many separate domains, such as in hi-tech (optics, electronics, biology, aeronautics), but also in consumer industries (automotive, concrete, surface treatments (including paints), cosmetics, etc.).

Abstract

Nanobiotechnology is a rapidly developing field of research. Ever more applications are emerging from all branches of nanobiotechnology in medicine, pharmacy, cosmetics, chemical and agro-industry. The book presents the basics, fundamental results and latest achievements of nanobiotechnological research. It extends as far as promising applications of new nanomaterials and newly discovered nanoeffects. Additionally, a large variety of nanobio-analysis methods is presented. The book will appeal to graduate students, researchers and engineers.

Abstract

Almost thirty years after the remarkable monograph of K. Zanio and the numerous conferences and articles dedicated since that time to CdTe and CdZnTe, after all the significant progresses in that field and the increasing interest in these materials for several extremely attractive industrial applications, such as nuclear detectors and solar cells, the edition of a new enriched and updated monograph dedicated to these two very topical II-VI semiconductor compounds, covering all their most prominent, modern and fundamental aspects, seemed very relevant and useful.
