Si les peintures de Luc Tuymans ont déjà fait l'objet de multiples manifestations et rétrospectives à travers le monde, son oeuvre imprimé reste actuellement encore trop méconnu car le musée communal de La Haye, aux Pays-Bas, est le seul lieu muséal a lui avoir consacré une importante exposition en 2012. Et pourtant, depuis la fin des années 1980, Luc Tuymans s'est adonné avec passion à l'exploration de l'estampe. Avec la complicité de maîtres imprimeurs, en particulier Roger Vandaele qui fut présent dès le début de ce nouveau champ d'expérimentation, l'artiste développa une intarissable curiosité pour toutes les techniques d'impression. De même, il multiplia les recherches en matière de support et de cadrage.
