Ce troisième numéro des Cahiers de l’Institut supérieur d’architecture de la Communauté française – La Cambre aborde la question de la participation citoyenne dans les procédures urbanistiques et architecturales, qui est aujourd’hui un enjeu politique essentiel. Le cas particulier de l’aménagement de la place Flagey est l’occasion de développer un tel questionnement. Le « cas Flagey » est exemplaire des ambiguïtés et des utopies que peuvent susciter la décision et la gestion d’un projet urbanistique au cœur d’une ville comme Bruxelles. Ce volume, qui rend compte de ce projet de participation citoyenne dans la gestion urbaine, conjugue des éléments descriptifs et réflexifs et donne la parole à ceux qui ont été les acteurs du processus. Parce qu’il a de fait constitué une étape essentielle dans l’interpellation des pouvoirs publics, dans la redistribution des positions des acteurs comme dans la définition de la place, le moment de l’appel à idées (avec sa méthodologie et ses résultats) occupe une place importante dans l’ouvrage qui reflète cette formidable opportunité réflexive. La réflexion s’ouvre du reste à des expériences internationales et à des analyses sociologiques de la participation urbaine dans la seconde partie de ce volume.

Het boek omvat een inleiding tot Luc Deleu's orbanistische project "De onaangepaste stad" van de hand van Hans Theys en een beschrijving van dit project door Luc Deleu. Naast talloze beelden van "De onaangepaste stad" bevat het boek ook een reeks door Luc Deleu gemaakte foto's van de door Corbusier ontworpen, Indische stad Chandigarh.
