M.J. Taselaar-CallenbachFredje Frot gaat met een vrolijk gezicht naar zee met een kist vol ijzer. Zijn moeder zegt dat hij beter brood en drinken mee kan nemen. Onderweg brengt de kist hem alleen maar geluk om zichzelf te helpen, maar ook andere mensen en zelfs dieren. Zo zit er een sleutel in waarmee hij een deur kan openen, een stang waarmee hij een woeste wolf wegjaagt, een pan waarmee een man soep kan koken waarvan hij ook wat krijgt, etc. Prentenboek met een sprookjesachtig verhaal op vlotlopend rijm. De vrolijkgekleurde humoristische illustraties staan meestal op een pagina, waarnaast op een witte ondergrond de tekst. Er zijn veel details te zien, die niet genoemd worden in de tekst, maar het verhaal wel aanvullen. Er zit spanning en vaart in beide. Op het achterste schutblad zit Freds moeder in een bootje samen met de ezel en de hond, die hem een mand vol eten komen brengen. En op de achterkant van het boek spelen de ezel en de hond op het strand. Het verhaal is eerder verschenen in 'Okki'. Oblong formaat. Vanaf ca. 4 jaar.

My book deals for the first time comprehensively with the techniques (and methodologies) of socio-cultural research in pre-modern societies. Contrary to prevailing opinion, it holds that some form of empirical research in these domains must have been present in all human groups, and every type of society, otherwise they would not have been able to adapt to other groups and to their own Internal changes. I distinguish between three basic research techniques: (1) travel, (2) the survey, and (3) the collection and interpretation of material objects.. Chapters I-III follow the development of these techniques from primitive societies via the early civilizations (exemplified by the Ancient near East, Egypt, Israel and the Greco-Roman world) and the Middle Ages to Early Modern Western Society. The mainstay of the book is the period from late humanism to the "scientific revolution" (circa 1570-1660),when all the techniques were refined and two of them (travel and collecting) were methodized. In that period also the age-old barriers against the accumulation of the research results and thus the development of socio-cultural sciences, namely secrecy and topicality, began to break down. I hold that all this contributed decisively to the hegemony of the west over all other World civilizations. Chapters IV-VIII deal with some special problems of the following period from the "scientific revolution" to the onset of Modernity (circa 1660-1800). They are closely interconnected and add some significant and lively details to the generalizations of chapters I-III.

Avec l'exposition Fish Story, l'artiste américain Allan Sekula (1951) reconstruit avec réalisme le modèle de représentation photographique, tout en prenant un recul critique par rapport à la photographie documentaire traditionnelle. Il ya une longue tradition artistique pour peindre les ports, les navires et les côtes. Dans Fish Story Sekula poursuit cette tradition, témoignant de l'histoire et l'avenir de l'espace maritime non seulement comme un espace visuel, mais aussi comme un espace socio-économique. Fish Story est son troisième projet portant sur un cycle d'oeuvres qui traitent de l'imaginaire et de la géographie réelle intégrée dan un monde capitaliste. Une question essentielle dans les poissons Story est le lien entre le mouvement des marchandises et de l'internationalisation croissante de l'économie industrielle mondiale, avec ses effets sur l'espace social réel des ports.
