Peggy Wauters once stated that she paints quicker than she talks about things. For her painting is like language, like speech, a way of thinking. The exhibition 'The Big Escape', for which this publication comes out, displays Wauters' work of the past ten years, comprising small (sometimes not even bigger than 4,5 x 4,5 cm) and larger paintings, drawings, collages and sculptures. Striking is the almost serene and obvious manner in which she demonstrates the soft cruelty of daily life through everyday situations and scenes. In a kaleidoscopic way, Wauters' work provides alternative contents for banal situations, creating alienations of the things that move and shake us. The sublime and the abject are naturally and subtly intertwined. Her works are riddled with humour. This publication has a foreword of Alain Liedts and is accompanied by a text and a poem by Inge Braeckman. Exhibition: Zebrastraat, Gent, Belgium (10.01. - 15.02.2015).

This book features the works of Belgian Conceptual artist Werner Cuvelier (° 1939). Since the sixties onwards, Cuvelier has been working on a constant and consistent oeuvre that seems to start from the concepts of arrangement, cataloguing and inventories of facts. The book focusses on Cuvelier's impressive and colorful oeuvre , and thanks to many archival pieces and studio views, provides an insightful view into his living and working world.

Belgian photographer Dirk Braeckman (born 1958) brings stillness to today’s steady tide of images; working with analogue photography, he explores the boundaries of his medium, choosing recognizable subjects while flirting with abstraction. Onze Belgische kunstgeschiedenis anders bekeken!

This publication is the first major monograph on the work of the Belgian artist Fabrice Samyn (born 1981). It is organised in various sets of analogies (form, sign, theme), and gives the measure of a work structured as a tree around the question of identity. It thrives in a space which includes diversities and dualities. In it we mainly discover the dualities between icon and idol, light and shade, presence and duration, male and female, author and impostor. Although Samyn's oeuvre developed at the same time as the internet and follows a similar organic growth, it gives full credit to skill and materiality. The artist either seeks close collaboration with craftsman or rises to the challenge of mastering the various media that he uses himself, be it painting, sculpture, poetry and more recently choreography. This copiously illustrated volume contains essays by Vinciane Despret, philosopher of sciences and professor at the University of Liege; Pascal Rousseau, professor of Contemporary Art History at Paris 1, and art historian Wivine de Traux.
