Abstract

Diffusion – defined as mass, amount, or particle transport process – is the most essential transport property besides viscosity and thermal conductivity. Diffusion is widely used in nature, technical and scientific applications, ranging from diffusion in all kinds of gases, liquids, solids, electrolytes and their mixtures. Due to the large amount of data, the volume LB IV/15 “Diffusion in Gases, Liquids, and Electrolytes” is divided into three subvolumes. Part A: Gases in Gases, Liquids and their Mixtures. Part B: Liquids in Liquids and Liquid Mixtures. Part C: Ions and Electrolytes in Liquids, Electrolytes and Molten Salts. The presented subvolume A includes the main chapters Measurement Methods, Diffusion in Pure Gases, Diffusion in Gaseous Mixtures, Diffusion of Gas/Vapor in Gases or Liquids and Diffusion of Gases in Solution. Due to the very different and widespread measurement methods, a precise description of these methods is given.

Abstract

An overview of essential concepts in supramolecular chemistry covering basic and applied research work. Macrocyclic Chemistry: Current Trends and Future Perspectives illustrates essential concepts in this expanding research field covering both basic and applied studies. Written by well-known experts from around the world, the topics of the chapters range from new macrocyclic architectures with different functions and self-assembly processes through to the modeling and dynamics of such systems. The content also reflects on application possibilities in analytical chemistry, separation processes, material preparation and medicine. Thus this book serves as a creative source of research strategies and methodic tools. Providing an excellent overview of the field, this book will a valuable resource for researchers in industry and academic institutions as well as for teachers of science and graduate students. Karsten Gloe is Professor of Coordination Chemistry at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, TU Dresden, Germany. This book is devoted to the long-standing tradition of the International Symposia on Macrocyclic Chemistry (ISMC) and published to coincide with the 30th meeting, Dresden, Germany.

Abstract

The Electrochemical Dictionary provides up-to-date, broad and authoritative coverage of the specific terms most used in electrochemistry and its related fields, including relevant areas of physics and engineering. This modern compendium will be an indispensable source of information for scientists, engineers, and technical staff active in all fields of electrochemistry. The more than 2.770 entries have been written by a distinguished panel of eminent electrochemists. Each entry supplies a clear and precise explanation of the term and provides references to the most useful reviews, books and original papers to enable readers to pursue a deeper understanding if so desired. The Electrochemical Dictionary will also be appreciatively consulted by scientists working in adjacent sciences and technologies, who need a quick understanding of the electrochemical terms they encounter. More than 300 figures and illustrations elaborate the textual definitions. The Electrochemical Dictionary also contains biographical entries of people who have substantially contributed to electrochemistry.
