This book reconstructs, from both historical and theoretical points of view, Leibniz’s geometrical studies, focusing in particular on the research Leibniz carried out in the last years of his life. It is indeed the first ever comprehensive historical reconstruction of Leibniz’s geometry that meets the interests of both mathematicians and philosophers. The main purpose of the work is to offer a better understanding of the Leibnizean philosophy of space and mature metaphysics, through a pressing confrontation with the problems of geometric foundations. Regarding the scope of these problems, the book also deals in depth with Leibniz’s theory of sensibility, thus favouring the comparison and contrast between Leibniz’s philosophy and Kant’s transcendentalist solution. The Appendix references to a number of previously unpublished manuscripts on geometry from the Leibniz Archiv in Hannover, which disclose new theories, points of view and technicalities of Leibniz’s thought. I find his [De Risi's] contribution to the debate on the reality of corporeal substances to be at once original and decisive. And finally, I am hugely impressed by the expertise he has brought to bear on both the purely formal and the deeply metaphysical sides, each requiring vastly different but equally considerable competences. I am impressed by the original way in which he makes sense of the phenomenalistic strains in Leibniz’s thought by connecting them with the metaphysics of expression, and this in turn with the foundation of real space. In sum, this [book] is an extraordinary accomplishment. (R.T.W. Arthur, McMaster University) I believe that this is an extraordinary [book] which sets new standards for Leibnizean scholarship—and, in particular, for historical and philosophical investigation into the relationship between Leibniz and Kant. (M. Friedman, Stanford University).

Algorithms are a form of productive power - so how may we conceptualise the newly merged terrains of social life, economy and self in a world of digital platforms? How do multiple self-quantifying practices interact with questions of class, race and gender? This edited collection considers algorithms at work - for what purposes encoded data about behaviour, attitudes, dispositions, relationships and preferences are deployed - and black box control, platform society theory and the formation of subjectivities. It details technological structures and lived experience of algorithms and the operation of platforms in areas such as crypto-finance, production, surveillance, welfare, activism in pandemic times. Finally, it asks if platform cooperativism, collaborative design and neomutualism offer new visions. Even as problems with labour and in society mount, subjectivities and counter subjectivities here produced appear as conscious participants of change and not so much the servants of algorithmic control and dominant platforms.

In this Master's thesis, the author examines his graduation project. He first examines the history of the bench in architecture and in the museum. This investigation leads him to the concept of staging. By defining the term "staging" and using two examples from contemporary art (Erwin Wurm and Tino Sehgal). Subsequently, it is analysed how the individual event character of an artwork is constituted. The aim is to give a brief insight into the development of the graduation project and the classical relationship between art viewer and art object to the modern approach of staging. This then leads to a subjective interpretation of the project.

This volume launches a new, eight-volume series entitled Theatrum Scientiarum on the history of science and the media which has arisen from the work of the Berlin special research project on ""Performative Cultures"" under the aegis of the Theatre Studies Department of the Free University. The volume examines the role of space in the constitution of knowledge in the early modern age. ""Kunstkammern"" (art and curiosities cabinets), laboratories and stages arose in the 17th century as instruments of research and representation. There is, however, still a lack of precise descriptions of the epis
