Abstract

The volume presents a comprehensive analysis of the lignocellulosic biomass that can be produced by the agricultural industry. The first part describes the territorial and political framework of the production of renewable energies by the agricultural industry. The lignocellulosic chains are then introduced, in an analytical description of the main crops aimed at the production of biomass and agronomic cultivation techniques; moreover, the potential of the crop residues is analysed. Finally, the volume takes into account the aspects related to territorial suitability as well as economic and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Since the Second World War, agronomy has become a scientific and technical discipline in its own right, supporting the reasoning behind plant production practices. Initially conceived as an application of agricultural chemistry and plant physiology, it has developed its own concepts and extended its field by integrating knowledge from many other disciplines. It has also developed by studying the practices of farmers and other rural actors. These developments have enabled it to renew its usefulness, by responding to the new challenges that agriculture is constantly facing. How did this construction take place? What were the processes, stages and actors involved? By analysing the way in which agronomy has been shaped in France, from the middle of the 20th century to the present day, La Fabrique de l'agronomie aims to shed light on the future and to stimulate useful reflection on the conditions for its development in the coming decades. This book on the evolution of the discipline is intended for agronomists of all professions who are faced with the challenges of the future, whether they are students, working or retired.

Abstract

Velen kennen de Boerenbond van naam. Weinigen hebben inzicht in zijn talrijke functies. Doorheen zijn honderdjarige geschiedenis werd hij opgehemeld en verguisd. Voor de enen is hij een emancipatorische kracht, voor anderen een bolwerk van katholiek conservatisme. De Boerenbond is een uniek organisatiemodel, steunend op een merkwaardige combinatie van economische, sociale, politieke en religieuze belangenverdediging. De efficiëntie van zijn werking heeft hem herhaaldelijk in conflict gebracht met andere belangengroepen in de Belgische samenleving. Precies daarom is deze studie, die grotendeels op nog nooit geopende archieven is gebaseerd, zo verrassend rijk. Het is geen geschiedenis van de Boerenbond alleen, maar tevens van heel zijn entourage waarin bisschoppen, politici, professoren en bankiers een hoofdrol hebben gespeeld. De doorbraakpogingen van de Boerenbond in Wallonië, de liquidatie van zijn Middenkredietkas, zijn aandeel in de Katholieke Actie, de bedreiging door de Nationale Landbouw en Voedingscorporatie tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, de argwanende houding tegenover Benelux en E E G: elementen genoeg om dit vlot geschreven, onthullende boek een niet te missen aanwinst te noemen.

Abstract

L’agroécologie a été choisie par l’Inra comme l’un des chantiers de prospective interdisciplinaire destiné à identifier les fronts de recherche en réponse à de grands défis sociétaux. Quatre-vingt chercheurs ont dressé un bilan, et proposé des pistes de recherche pour l’agroécologie, et cet ouvrage en synthétise les principales conclusions. L’agroécologie, en tant que discipline scientifique, remettant l’écologie au centre de la conception des systèmes agricoles, est maintenant bien présente. Diversifier le vivant dans des agroécosystèmes est une visée à large spectre, pour les rendre plus robustes, plus résilients. Les recherches en génétique et en écologie du paysage sont mobilisées pour que l’agroécologie utilise des leviers de la parcelle au paysage. La modélisation des systèmes agroécologiques se développe pour mieux comprendre les interactions biotiques et abiotiques multiples, les prédire, et commencer à piloter certains systèmes. La diversification du vivant dans la production agricole (espèces, variétés, successions culturales, etc.) conduit à des produits plus variés. Les conséquences seront importantes sur les filières, ou plus exactement sur les systèmes agri-alimentaires, allant du mode de production aux produits consommés. Ces changements s’inscrivent sur le long terme. La transition agroécologique, adaptative, se coconstruisant avec les acteurs, est en soi un sujet de recherche, et pourra s’appuyer sur des dispositifs expérimentaux, des exploitations agricoles, des territoires d’innovation.

Abstract

Árvore frutífera, xerófita, da família Anacardiácea e do gênero Spondias, mas ainda sem nome especifíco. Nativa do semiárido brasileiro, onde existe uma grande população de plantas centenárias e produtivas, clonadas por estaquia, dispersas, notadamente em quintais, produzindo milhões de toneladas de frutos para as CEASAs e agroindústrias, é a principal matéria-prima de muitas fábricas. Igualmente às outras Spondias, seus frutos são chamados por diversos nomes comuns: umbu-cajá, cajá-umbu, cajarana, cajazinha, cajá-amarelo, cajá-do-sertão, umbu-amarelo e também umbu ou cajá. Dessa forma, são disseminadas informações equivocadas que tornam imprecisos os dados de produção do IBGE e das CEASAs impedindo a identidade nominal, a mensuração do real volume de produção e a sua importância agrossocioeconômica. Daí a necessidade de citações idôneas e fidedignas. A umbu-cajazeira é pouco pesquisada – esta obra consiste em um compêndio de informações obtidas através de trabalhos experimentais, análises, interpretação, adaptação, visitas de campo, contatos e conhecimentos tácitos de produtores. Contém conhecimentos e informações aplicáveis à sua cadeia produtiva, que podem ser úteis para a tomada de decisões estratégicas de gestão e de operacionalização para agricultores familiares, empreendedores, órgãos de assistência técnica, P&DI, agroindústrias, instituições de fomento e formuladores de políticas públicas para alavancar com sustentabilidade esse importante agronegócio.
