Life on Planet Earth is at risk as a result of the negligent development model followed by one species: humans. The Great Family of Life explains the causes, consequences and desirable solutions to the unbalanced and unfair relationship between Homo sapiens and the other species that inhabit Planet Earth in a succinct, enjoyable and thought-provoking way. Major sociological, economic, political, religious and phylosophical perspectives are reviewed in order to understand why we have reached the current alarming status of global biodiversity during the Anthropocene, and how we can react to it to attain not just human welfare, but Global Happiness. This book explains the causes, consequences and desirable solutions to the unbalanced and unfair relationship between Homo sapiens and the other species that inhabit Planet Earth in a succinct, enjoyable and thought-provoking way. The magnitude of provider uncompensated care has become an important public policy issue. Yet existing measures of uncompensated care are flawed because they compare uninsured payments to list prices, not to the prices actually paid by the insured. We address this issue using a novel source of data from a vendor that processes financial data for almost 4000 physicians. We measure uncompensated care as the net amount that physicians lose by lower payments from the uninsured than from the insured. Our best estimate is that physicians provide negative uncompensated care to the uninsured, earning more on uninsured patients than on insured patients with comparable treatments. Even our most conservative estimates suggest that uncompensated care amounts to only 0.8% of revenues, or at most $3.2 billion nationally. These results highlight the important distinction between charges and payments, and point to the need for a re-definition of uncompensated care in the health sector going forward.

The master dissertation has been developed within the framework "Promiscuous Assemblages" and it explores the topic of Human territory. The aim of the research is to use the concept territory as a tool for understanding the build environment and as a foundation to intervene the post-industrial site of Lövholmen in Stockholm, Sweden. The research culminates with an architectural intervention that seeks to challenge the way contemporary housing is conceive today.

Depuis quelques années, l'archéologie de la montagne connaît un indéniable regain d'intérêt. Les problématiques liées au statut des espaces d'altitude irriguent des programmes pluridisciplinaires, actuellement menés ou projetés dans les différents massifs européens. Dans ce contexte, les approches diachroniques et géoarchéologiques permettent désormais de mieux connaître des territoires qu'une absence de recherche et certains présupposés maintenaient encore naguère dans un état proche de la terra incognita. Cette dynamique est rythmée par toute une série de rencontres internationales dans laquelle s'inscrit la table ronde qui s'est déroulée au Musée-Muséum départemental de Gap entre le 29 septembre et le 1er octobre 2008. Les vingt-neuf contributions rassemblées dans le présent volume reflètent à la fois la diversité des zones étudiées et l'interdisciplinarité des recherches. Avec cette publication, nous espérons contribuer de façon significative au dialogue et à la coordination nécessaires entre les équipes de recherche se vouant à l'étude de la présence et de l'activité de l'homme au coeur des écosystèmes de moyenne et de haute montagne en Europe, des milieux bien particuliers, parfois difficiles à appréhender et trop longtemps restés en marge des terrains d'investigation de l'archéologie.
