August Kubizek (ik-figuur) was de jeugdvriend van Adolf Hitler. Ze willen allebei naar Wenen, om daar een kunststudie te volgen. In Wenen wonen ze een tijd samen, een periode in hun leven die ingrijpende gevolgen had. Vanaf ca. 15 jaar.

In zijn beruchte boek Mein Kampf zette Adolf Hitler in detail de principes van zijn wereldbeschouwing uiteen: het nationaalsocialisme, of kortweg het nazisme. Maar de toekomstige Führer van nazi-Duitsland werkte zijn ideeën ook verder uit in een Zweites Buch, dat bijna niemand kent en nooit verscheen in een Nederlandstalige vertaling. In aanloop naar en tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog zou dit geheel van volksnationalistische en racistische opvattingen een bepalende rol spelen. En hoewel heel wat gebeurtenissen uit de grote wereldbrand tot het collectief geheugen behoren, is de kennis van het nationaalsocialisme in de eenentwintigste eeuw grotendeels vervaagd. Het nazisme omvatte immers nog veel meer dan de volkerenmoord op de Joden of het voeren van oorlog om meer Lebensraum voor het Duitse volk te veroveren. Binnen deze wereldbeschouwing had Adolf Hitler een duidelijke mening over alle aspecten van en problemen in de samenleving. Vele van deze pijnpunten zijn ook nu nog brandend actueel. De oplossingen die de nazi’s formuleerden tijdens het interbellum steken geregeld opnieuw de kop op. En wie de geschiedenis niet kent, is gedoemd om ze te herhalen. Bovendien levert de studie van het nationaalsocialisme een onverwachte bonus op. Het wordt immers duidelijk hoe een land, dat na de Grote Oorlog op sterven na dood was, in enkele jaren tijd opnieuw tot een militaire supermacht kon opgebouwd worden. En dat verhaal is allesbehalve populair bij een aantal overwinnaars van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Luc Vanhixe werd gevormd aan de Koninklijke Militaire School in Brussel. Gedurende zijn hele loopbaan als officier was hij geboeid door militaire geschiedenis in het algemeen en de Tweede Wereldoorlog in het bijzonder. Zodra hij met pensioen was heeft hij zich voltijds aan deze passie gewijd. Als auteur maakt hij er een erezaak van om de platgetreden paden te verlaten en historische feiten die lang vergeten zijn of niet in de klassieke geschiedschrijving opgenomen werden, opnieuw een plaats te geven.

Anne Frank was een joods meisje dat zich tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog moest verschuilen. Ze schreef haar verhaal op in een dagboek, totdat haar schuilplaats werd ontdekt en ze naar een kamp werd gebracht. Prentenboek over het leven van Anne Frank (1929-1945). Met zwart-wit kleurenillustraties. Vanaf ca. 6 t/m 8 jaar.Hilde de Boeck, 08 mei 2019Dit boek maakt deel uit van een reeks over het levensverhaal van belangrijke vrouwen uit de wereldgeschiedenis. Dit derde deel gaat over Anne Frank. Anne Frank was een Duits meisje van Joodse afkomst. Ze moet tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog samen met haar familie onderduiken voor de nazi's. Het huis waar ze samen met haar familie verborgen zat in Amsterdam (Nederland), is nu een museum dat dagelijks door veel toeristen wordt bezocht. Anne Frank werd geboren in Duitsland. Ze had nog een zus, Margot. Samen woonden ze in Frankfurt. Bij het uitbreken van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, werden alle Joden door Hitler vervolgd. Om te ontsnappen aan Hitler vluchtte het gezin naar familie in Amsterdam. Hier kon ze een gewoon leven leiden. Maar Hitler bezette na een tijd ook Nederland. Anne Frank moest op school een gele ster dragen, het symbool voor Joden. Toen ze dertien was, kreeg Anne een dagboek voor haar verjaardag. Hierin schreef Anne Frank haar leven in het Achterhuis. Wanneer het te gevaarlijk werd, verstopte ze zich samen met haar familie achter een boekenkast in het huis van haar familie. Hier beleefde Anne Frank haar jeugd. Ze gingen nooit meer naar buiten uit angst voor de nazi's. Anne Frank droomde ervan om ooit een boek uit te brengen en een beroemde schrijfster te worden. Wanneer op een dag de familie wordt ontdekt, worden ze naar het concentratiekamp gebracht. Hier sterft ze, slechts enkele weken voor het einde van de oorlog. Het dagboek van Anne Frank blijft achter in het Achterhuis. Otto, de vader van Anne, is de enige die de oorlog overleefde. Hij vindt het dagboek en besluit het uit te geven zodat de wereld weet wat er allemaal gebeurd is.Met weinig woorden wordt de kern van het leven van Anne Frank in dit prentenboek weergegeven. De stijl is vertellend. Er wordt weinig emotie vertoond. Er wordt niet veel uitleg gegeven bij woorden die horen bij de Tweede Wereldoorlog, zoals bijvoorbeeld concentratiekampen. Deze woorden mochten meer gekaderd worden. De zwart-wit illustraties passen perfect in de sfeer van oorlog en Jodenvervolging. Je ziet hoop maar ook angst op de gezichten. Enkel het dagboek wordt rood ingekleurd. Het dagboek is bijna het enige dat kleur brengt in het leven van Anne Frank dat zich in het Achterhuis afspeelt. Door de donkere kleuren lijkt het boek op het eerste gezicht minder aantrekkelijk, maar het geeft een goede weerspiegeling van de sfeer waarin Anne Frank is opgegroeid. Toch wordt het niet té gruwelijk voorgesteld. Het moeilijke onderwerp wordt op een eenvoudige manier verteld. De taal is eenvoudig. Een ideale combinatie voor jonge kinderen bij het museumbezoek. Het dagboek zelf werd in meer dan 70 talen vertaald. Achteraan in het boek vind je nog extra foto's en uitleg over haar leven. Het boek lijkt een voorleesboek. Voor lagere schoolkinderen mist het echter diepgang. Eigenlijk een gemiste kans om het leven van Anne Frank op dit niveau weer te geven.08 mei 2019© Pluizer30http://www.pluizer.be

Kinderen vanaf 10 jaar duiken met dit boek de geschiedenis in en maken kennis met de Holocaust. Een omkeerboek met aan de ene kant een verhaal en aan de andere kant feitelijke informatie. Met het verhaal van Hannah vertelt Aline Sax een van de miljoenen verhalen van mensen die gedeporteerd werden. Dit boek begint waar de meeste verhalen voor kinderen ophouden, aan de poort van het concentratiekamp. Het verhaal van Hannah is niet alleen een verhaal over de kampen, maar ook een verhaal over niet opgeven en over hoop. Niet alleen de Joden, maar ook andere vervolgde groepen komen aan bod.

Het lijkt wel of niemand meer zonder een gsm kan! Er wordt niet alleen meer mee gebeld. Met de nieuwste modellen kun je foto's maken en versturen, spelletjes spelen, rekenen, een agenda bijhouden, chatten, sms'en, e-mails versturen en zelfs tv-kijken. De eerste mobiele telefoon paste nauwelijks in een auto. Sindsdien zijn ze steeds kleiner geworden. Maar nog steeds zit er in elke mobiele telefoon een microfoon en een luidspreker. Een antenne verstuurt de gesprekken naar het netwerk van een provider. Vaak gaan gesprekken zelfs via satellieten. Door de uitvinding van het gsm-systeem kun je bijna overal met bijna elk land bellen.
