Abstract

Relevance. Organisation, efficiency and safety of out-of-hours (OOH) care are important issues in Belgium and Europe. Funding and partners. General Practitioner Cooperatives (GPC), RIZIV/INAMI, local and Federal Governments are supporting our work in collaboration with GPCs of Flanders, emergency departments, pharmacists and EurOOHnet (www.euroohnet.eu/)Objectives. To optimise OOH primary care in terms of safety and efficiency. Rearranging OOH primary care in a way that acute care will stay sustainable in a society with higher needs and a diminishing number of physicians. We aim at an organisation of acute primary care that is accessible and equitable.Findings. Offering new services does not result in a safer and more efficient OOH care.
