t wordt meer en meer als big business aanzien in de sportwereld, aangezien er veel geld mee gemoeid is. Daardoor krijgt de zoektocht naar blessurepreventie heel veel aandacht. Een splint kan hiervoor een mogelijke oplossing bieden. In deze bachelorproef wordt onderzoek gedaan naar prestaties, ademhaling, bescherming, ideale dikte van een splint en symmetrie gangpatroon. Methode: Om tot de resulaten van dit onderzoek te komen, wordt gebruik gemaakt van een systematisch literatuuronderzoek (SLO). Na het lezen van de artikels en het uitvoeren van de PEDro-schaal, waarbij de artikels minstens een 7/11 score behaalden, beslisten we om 15 wetenschappelijk onderbouwde artikels op te nemen in onze literatuurstudie. Resultaten: Een splint blijkt, uit verschillende wetenschappelijke artikels, een postieve invloed te hebben op prestaties, ademhaling, bescherming en symmetrie. Ook spreken sommige artikels elkaar tegen meer bepaald naar de krachtontwikkeling toe. Conclusie: Na het lezen van onze literatuurstudie kan er besloten worden dat het dragen van een splint een positief effect teweeg brengt bij sporters op vlak van prestatie, ademhaling, bescherming en symmetrisch gangpatroon. ?

"Elke werkdag lopen zowat 56.000 reizigers het drukste station van Vlaanderen in en uit. De meeste hebben vooral oog voor het informatiebord, maar ergens in hun achterhoofd weten ze toch dat ze door een historisch monument lopen. Sporadisch zie je iemand in de hal rondkijken en de muur- en plafondschilderingen bewonderen, misschien wel wegdromend naar honderd jaar geleden. Toen in 1837 de eerste trein het Gentse Zuidstation binnenreed, droomden de Gentenaren al van een station aan de zuidkant van de stad, 'buiten de Kortrijksepoort'. Het was echter wachten tot 1881 voordat aan het Parkplein het eerste station Gent-Sint-Pieters werd opgetrokken. In 1899 besliste de minister van Spoorwegen om het station uit te breiden. De Wereldtentoonstelling van 1913 bracht de plannen voor dit eerste 'Project Gent-Sint-Pieters' in een stroomversnelling. Op een plek waar alleen meersen en een paar boerderijen te vinden waren, verrees een gloednieuw station, omgeven door een grote stadswijk met brede boulevards die ronkende koninklijke namen kregen. Het nieuwe station werd de spil in de ontwikkeling van de hele zuidkant van Gent. Aan de vooravond van een nieuwe uitbreiding van het station en de stationswijk vertelt dit boek hoe het Gentse Sint-Pietersstation in honderd jaar uitgroeide tot het druk bezochte knooppunt dat het vandaag is. Met meer dan tweehonderd unieke foto's en kaarten en tientallen krantenartikelen uit die tijd brengen de auteurs de sfeer van toen tot leven en nemen ze u mee op een boeiende reis door de evolutie van de mobiliteit en stedenbouw in Gent."--back cover.

In 1999, the NMBS (Nationale Maatschappij der Belgische Spoorwegen) arranged an architectural competition for the construction of a new platform covering for Leuven station. The winning project of Philippe Samyn and Partners is a case study in which the appropriate integration of the surroundings, a minimal use of material, and an optimum comfort for travellers stands paramount.nThis book highlights the technical studies which helped define the key points of the competition design. The applied design principles were strictly adhered to during the entire building process. Building site photos and drawings give a chronological and didactic rendering of the construction process.nNot only does this book give a clear insight into how the station was constructed, it also reveals specifically why it was done in this way.
