A smart port is defined as a port that uses technologies such as big data, AI, and IoT to manage transportation and logistics services. Smart Port Management and Strategy covers the design, operation and applications of a smart port to improve capacity and productivity. The book has been written by the author from an operations management perspective with the aim of providing technical knowledge to readers on how to use technology for optimizing port performance. Key Features: - Eight key topics relevant to smart port management - Focus on calculations and technical operations - Guidance on OCR, RFID and sensor technologies for gates - Includes information about port performance measurement - Includes access to Korean Port MIS - Covers automation equipment such as AGV, ARMGC, and remote control QC - Includes port simulation, digitization strategies and financial analysis Smart Port Management and Strategy is the definitive resource for anyone, whether they are professionals in transportation services or students of civil engineering or operations management, who want to learn about smart ports and how they are managed.

Aimed at students and instructors, alongside practitioners and researchers, in landscape architecture and its allied disciplinary fields, this book provides the reader with a clear framework of theoretical and practical considerations for interpreting and designing post-industrial landscapes. One of the biggest contemporary challenges currently faced in the profession is how to effectively understand and work with the transformational possibilities of post-industrial landscapes, while negotiating significant spatial challenges, such as degradation and fragmentation. Transformative Ground: A Field Guide to the Post-Industrial Landscape presents a range of theoretical perspectives and practical approaches, offering a broad scope of contemporary design strategies that deal with post-industrial landscapes. Through a series of thematic chapters, allied with precedents from leading design offices, this book identifies how the context of post-industrial landscapes has compelled shifts in fundamental ideas that underpin landscape design. As a richly illustrated account of this transformative ground, this book provides a must-have guide to help you reimagine the post-industrial landscape.

This doctoral dissertation presents a model to evaluate trade-offs between the energetic, economic, and environmental lifecycle performance of building projects. The model is explained so as to be replicable. The model is then applied for decision-making on different strategies for existing buildings in Germany. Results from the case-study show that current state-of-the-art building strategies considerably increase the risk of missing climate change mitigation targets in exchange to a relatively small economic improvement over innovative building strategies.
