Nous avons à repenser aujourd'hui, sur de nouvelles bases, le destin coopérant du négatif; notamment à distinguer entre ce qui détruit et ne produit rien (qu'on appellera pour commencer le mal) et ce que serait un négatif activant, mobilisant, tel qu'il met sous tension, promeut, innove, intensifie. C'est même dans cette capacité à gérer du négatif sans l'aseptiser, ou plutôt, ce gérer étant par trop managérial, à le faire "lever'', à le rendre productif au lieu de le désamorcer, que je vois se renouveler la vocation de l'intellectuel à l'ère de la mondialisation. Son "engagement" ne serait plus, dès lors, celui d'un positionnement à l'extrême, en quête d'une radicalité de principe (comme la figure s'en est déployée en France, dans l'antagonisme de bloc à bloc, ou de classe à classe, de Sartre à Foucault et Bourdieu - cette figure n'est-elle pas épuisée ?) ; mais consiste à déceler selon quelles voies, dans ce nouveau contexte, du négatif, loin d'être à bannir, met en mouvement et peut activer: à faire apparaître selon quel autre plan ce qui paraissait "mauvais" révèle des ressources inexplorées, et même inenvisagées ...
